Last weekend, we held our annual Alumni & Staff BBQ in Idaho, and it was a beautiful reminder of what recovery can build: community, connection, and lasting support.

We had one of our largest turnouts to date, with hundreds of alumni, their family and friends, and staff coming together to celebrate each person who has walked through our doors and each story of strength that Northpoint Recovery has been part of the past 10 years.

To all who joined us and those there in spirit, we thank you for the privilege to come alongside you in your journey. Your strength continues to inspire us, this year and every year.

We can’t celebrate our alumni enough, and we’re excited to keep the momentum going at our upcoming Alumni and Staff BBQs in Colorado, Washington, and Nebraska!

What are your favorite sober activities for the summertime? Comment below! 🤸

One challenge of early sobriety is finding new hobbies and activities that don’t involve substances. This isn’t because there aren’t many sober activities, but because it can take time to find new interests after spending a long time focused solely on substances.

There are plenty of new things to learn and enjoy, and maybe even some old things that have new life when sober! ☀️

What are some summertime activities you’d recommend that helped you in early sobriety? Were they new? Or were they old hobbies that took on new life? Comment below ⬇️⬇️⬇️

A decade of trust. 25,000+ stories of strength. And the clients who continue to show us what’s possible.

Over the past decade, we’ve had the privilege of walking alongside individuals as they take steps toward recovery. Every journey reminds us why we show up — to save lives and restore relationships — and what’s possible when people are met with compassion, support, and belief in their future.

As we celebrate 10 years this summer, we’re reflecting on the lives changed and the strength we’ve witnessed firsthand. Thank you to our clients for trusting us and letting us be part of your story.

June marks both Pride Month and PTSD Awareness Month—a powerful intersection that reflects many of the experiences we see every day at Northpoint Recovery and Imagine by Northpoint.

Members of the LGBTQIA+ community are at a higher risk of experiencing trauma, yet they often face greater barriers to receiving safe, affirming care. At Northpoint, we believe healing happens when care is trauma-informed, identity-affirming, and rooted in dignity.

Whether it’s a teen navigating identity and anxiety or an adult working through trauma and addiction, our teams are committed to creating spaces where everyone feels safe, respected, and supported.

✨ Pride in who you are.
💙 Healing from what you’ve survived.
🤝 Recovery that embraces the whole person.

Let’s continue building a future where everyone can access compassionate, evidence-based care regardless of background, identity, or diagnosis.

It can be hard to tell what you need and don’t need for a residential stay. Here’s what we tell clients 🧳🛏️⬇️

1. 👕 Clothing - bring one week’s supply of comfortable clothing. We have laundry facilities and provide supplies.

2. 👓 Toiletries - any contacts, glasses, grooming supplies, and feminine hygiene products are welcome as long as they are alcohol free and not aerosols. You’ll have a bathroom in your room to share with a roommate.

3. 🛏️ Room Comforts - your room will have bedding and an HVAC system, but if you would like your own pillow, blanket, or fan, bring these along.

4. 💊 Prescription Medications - bring any necessary medications, making sure they’re in their prescribed bottle. Any over the counter vitamins and supplements need to be discussed with our clinical team.

5. Free Time Activities - you can bring books, journals, instruments, etc to engage with during down times, but don’t overpack these. You stay busy with program activities, and we provide games, puzzles, crafts, a gym, and a lounge with a tv.

6. 📱 Electronics - we find reduced tech time leads to better engagement and outcomes in treatment. So, cell phone and internet access is limited. You can use landline phones throughout the facility to stay connected to loved ones. If you have specific cell phone needs, speak with our clinical team.

7. 🚬 To***co Products - we allow unopened packs of ci******es as well as unopened, disposable vapes and e-ci******es. We have an open courtyard with designated areas for to***co use.

If you’d like to see our full packing list or have further questions about what to bring to treatment, contact our team at the link in our bio!

The consumption of both sugar and alcohol triggers the reward center of the brain. This results in the release of dopamine, a neurotransmitter associated with pleasure and reward.

Such a mechanism sheds light on the overlapping cravings experienced by people struggling with alcohol addiction and people with a sweet tooth. After all, both substances spark similar neural pathways, contributing to the repetitive and reinforcing effects of addiction.

Want to learn to save a life from su***de? Imagine Denver will host a free QPR Su***de Prevention Gatekeeper Training at its Imagine Denver clinic on Thursday, May 16, 2024, from 4pm to 5pm.

Hosted by Claire Gishwiller, CTRS, Business Development Specialist for Imagine by Northpoint Recovery in Colorado and a certified QPR Institute Gatekeeper Instructor, the QPR Gatekeeper Training will empower attendees with knowledge of the QPR technique. It’s the perfect way for Northpoint Recovery to recognize Mental Health Awareness Month.

“Being a business development specialist at Northpoint Colorado, this is a direct wat to show the community that we care about providing ways to save people’s lives,” Gishwiller said. “Personally, I believe in ending the stigma that is sometimes associated with mental health, and I’m pleased that Northpoint thinks this is a good use of my time. And it’s a great way to show how Northpoint stands apart.”

Simple yet powerful, QPR training can teach anyone how to recognize the warning signs, ask the right questions, and provide the necessary support to save a life at risk of su***de. The aim of the hour-long training session is to equip as many people as possible with critical skills to help safeguard the well-being of the community.
