In Memory Of
Gary M. Oliver
December 6, 1950 - April 23, 2026

Gary Morgan Oliver returned to his Savior with honor on April 23, 2026, surrounded by his beloved family. Gary packed as much as he possibly could into his 75 years, and couldn’t have lived a fuller life.

He was a surrogate father, mentor, teacher, and rescuer to many, but first and foremost he was a valiant disciple of Christ whose commitment to his duties knew no bounds. Gary’s greatest joy in life was to be surrounded by those he loved. While he didn’t like to play games, he loved to see his family enjoying a good board game and endured the crushing decibels with grace…except during the Superbowl. Gary was happiest when he was serving others and making others feel seen. He was very wise without being prideful, extremely funny, but not at others’ expense, and his capacity for compassionate service was unmatched. Even in his final days and hours, he was focused on others rather than himself. Gary was the common denominator and the glue that kept so many people, from so many walks of life, together.

Gary was truly one of a kind. He had BIG opinions, and an even BIGGER heart. While he had a very strong sense of justice, he was the first one to extend understanding and mercy. He would give anyone his last nickel, yet tell no one of his generosity. As a self-taught balloon bender, a child rarely left his presence without a balloon sword, hat, and shield that Gary had fashioned for them. Many Christmas Eve nights, excited kids had to dash for their beds because Santa was “Ho, ho, ho-ing” outside their window over the sound of his jingle bells. During a Wyoming blizzard in 2023, he and his wife were marooned at the Hampton Inn in Rawlins, WY, where Gary quickly organized get-togethers with other stranded travelers causing his family to tease him that he served as the Mayor of the Rawlins Hampton Inn with a tenure of five days.

Gary was born on December 6, 1950, to Gene and Marjorie Oliver in Denver, CO. The oldest of five children, Gary spent his early childhood years terrorizing the streets of Aurora, CO with his partners in crime, Kim and Kevin. Dennis the Menace would have been amazed at the things they got away with and very impressed with their aptitude for mischief. He spent his teenage years in California as a high school football star (voted most athletic at Thousand Oaks High School), a pilot, who soloed at the age of 16, a surfer, and a new big brother to his baby sister, Keeley, who many mistook to be his baby due to their 17 year age difference.

After high school, Gary attended Brigham Young University for one year before serving for two years in the Andes Mission in Peru as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Upon returning to BYU after his missionary service, he met the love of his life, Cindy Lu Glissmeyer, and ultimately emerged the victor of the pack of suitors, by winning her hand. They were married in the Salt Lake City Temple on February 16, 1973. Gary designed his own composite major at BYU, that included Spanish, and minored in Instructional Psychology, graduating in 1976.

In 1979, Gary and Cindy went into business with his parents when they purchased the Brynwood on the River resort in Estes Park, CO, where Gary continued to pull double-duty even after becoming an Air Traffic Controller in 1980. Gary and Cindy eventually purchased Brynwood from Marge, running it for a total of 37 years. Their entrepreneurial spirits continued with the purchase of Pretzelmaker franchises and rental properties. More important than his professional accomplishments were the ways in which he served the Lord as everything from a church nursery worker to the bishop of the Longs Peak Ward in Lyons, CO. He also served as the Shift Coordinator of the Friday night shift at the Fort Collins, CO Temple until just before his passing.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Marge Oliver, his brother, Kim Oliver, his son, Adam Oliver, and his grandson, and best buddy, Isaac Taylor. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Cindy Oliver; his children, Ambra and Mat Taylor, Cama and Michael Patterson, and Shelby and David Coogle; his grandchildren, Kimball and Sydnie Taylor, Evan and Ruby Taylor, Josie Taylor, Jaron and Mariah Patterson, Jaylie Patterson, Benjamin Hernandez, and Shuri Hernandez. Gary is also survived by his brother, Kevin Oliver and his wife, Vickie, his sister, Keeley Hansen and her husband, Craig, his sister, Genette Oliver, and his sister-in-law, Rosanne Oliver. As well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews, who have asserted that Gary was their favorite.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Pathways Hospice Care of Northern Colorado (see below), an organization that offered a port in the storm when it was desperately needed.

In memory of Gary, take as many pictures of people as you can. Keep giving when you think you have nothing left to give. Seek out the one to minister to.

Gary’s Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 2:00 pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3800 Mountain Lion Dr., Loveland, CO 80537. The service may also be joined on Zoom at Gary Oliver Memorial Service, meeting ID 992 5283 8829.

🕵FUNERAL FACT FRIDAY

In 1845, at the funeral of President Andrew Jackson, his pet African Grey parrot, named Poll (or Polly) was removed from the service due to him screaming profanities. President Jackson had taught Poll how to curse and ironically his foul-mouthed bird caused disruption and chaos at his final service.

In Memory Of
Kathleen "Kathy" Kasprzak
February 19, 1945 - April 9, 2026

Kathleen “Kathy” June Kasprzak, was born on February 19, 1945 and passed away on April 9, 2026. A faithful Christian educator, creative artist, and good-natured soul, Kathy was dedicated to her family and friends. We mourn the loss of her part in the Body of Christ on earth, even as we celebrate that she has entered the peace promised to her in heaven.

Kathy grew up in Villa Park, Illinois. She enjoyed visiting the Chicago Art Institute and the Museum of Science and Industry on special trips to the city. She studied art and art education at Northern Illinois University, graduating with her Bachelor of Arts in Education in 1967; the same year, she married her husband, Terry Kasprzak, on June 10th. Their story began with meeting in printmaking class; after class, they immediately went on a date to see a movie, Kiss Me, Stupid. It was the start of a partnership that would last a lifetime.

Kathy was a devoted Brownie and Girl Scout leader. She spent two summers as a counselor at Camp Dean in Illinois, where she experienced adventures, including a memorable night when a tornado swept through. Counselors led campers to shelter beneath the main lodge. All were safe, and the story became one of Kathy’s most adventurous moments.

Kathy and Terry married and moved to Glen Ellyn where they worked as art teachers. Kathy was an art teacher at Manheim Junior High for one year. They decided to move to Colorado in 1968. Kathy channeled her creative spirit into calligraphy, making afghans, Halloween costumes, and much more. She also made cards, crafting hundreds, perhaps thousands, of beautiful, personal cards that brought joy to countless recipients over the years. Alongside her daughter Judi, she co-hosted beloved craft and bake sales each spring and fall for more than a decade. Kathy’s homemade nut cups and handcrafted cards were perennial favorites.

Kathy and Terry also served together as counselors at Highlands Camp for two years, where Kathy taught crafts to campers. Highlands remained a cherished place for the family, and they were generous donors to its ministry.

For 10 years, from 1980 to 1990, Kathy served as Sunday School Coordinator at Mountain View Presbyterian Church, shaping the faith of children with characteristic care and creativity. She developed a custom curriculum and activities to engage many children. She was a longtime member of the Mountain View Presbyterian Women’s Circle, and she later joined First United Presbyterian Church, where she found a kindred community in a women’s card-making group. She made many meaningful contributions to the life of the church at both First on Fourth and Mountain View Presbyterian.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Terry, son David and his wife Ashley, son Tom, daughter Judi and son-in-law Jim. She is also survived by grandchildren Hailey and James Greenup; Jacob, Christian, Rebecca, and Aidan Kasprzak; and Jared and Brody Kasprzak. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Helen Kitzmiller, and her sister, Janet Hartgerink.

Terry said, “She was always at my side and will always be in my memory. I look forward to meeting her again.” The family gives special thanks to Judi and Jim for providing personalized care the several last months of Kathy’s life.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to Highlands Camp and Retreat Center, a place that held a special place in Kathy’s heart. https://highlandscamp.org/donate/

January 13, 1957 - March 31, 2026

Charles “Bud” George Vivion III, born January 13, 1957, passed away on March 31, 2026, after a long and hard fought battle with cancer. A beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, and uncle, Bud touched the lives of all who knew him with his warm spirit, and deep appreciation for the world around him.

Bud grew up in Laramie, Wyoming, where he was surrounded by the rugged beauty of the Snowy Range Mountains. His summers were spent working alongside his cousins at the Vivion family’s Leo Sheep Company and Rocky Mountain Sheep Company — memories he cherished throughout his life. The mountains became his sanctuary, where he loved camping, fishing, and breathing in the crisp, cold Wyoming air.

He spent the majority of his professional life in the hotel industry before boldly stepping into a new career with a restaurant franchise. Dedicated and hardworking, Bud built a second career he was truly proud of. In recent years, he embraced retirement and devoted his time to what mattered most: his children, grandchildren, and his loyal fur-baby, Izzy. Evenings on his back porch, watching the sun set behind the snow-capped Rockies, were among his greatest joys.

Bud was preceded in death by his father, Charles George Vivion Jr. He is survived by his mother, Betty Henry-Vivion; his sisters, Sherry Eklund and Janette Dolmseth; his children, Charles George Vivion IV, Brittni Warren, and Kirstie Knight; and many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family who will carry his memory forward. His presence will be deeply missed, but his love, stories, and the mountain air he adored will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew him.
