A last minute morning cancellation = last minute burst of lots of strong movement. Blanket mode is creeping in, mood is going down, body is uncomfortable. The best medicine (besides a hot, sunny beach) is MOVEMENT!!!! Get up and take care šŸ™ŒšŸ’•šŸ’Ŗ

TOOLS!! Right now many of us are asking the question, ā€œWhat can I do?ā€ Perhaps the question is aimed at something personal, maybe it’s on a more national or global scale. I’ve been asking it, almost frozen by the question. But the problem is, life keeps going and we have to keep going. The answer to this question, ā€œwhat can I do?ā€ Is commonly answered with responses like ā€œvoteā€ and ā€œget organized in your community.ā€ But I personally believe that the answer to this question begins with us. How is it possible to make real, positive change if we are not taking good care of ourselves? Wouldn’t it be more useful to use tools that help to optimize our own wellbeing so that we can participate in peaceful and useful protest? Wouldn’t it be useful to take a step back, meditate or journal a little bit to find clarity? To be able to better answer that question ā€œWhat can I do?ā€

I think it is. So that’s what I’m going to do šŸ’• hang in there my friends. Who knows what’s happening. But take care of yourself.

I made most of my Christmas gifts this year, which meant a LOT of sitting around and not enough yoga from October until now!!!!! Starting the challenge today and it felt good to return to my mat with some of my most influential teachers!!!

A lot of times I like to begin in some sort of heart opening restorative pose. I spend a lot of time with my arms, shoulders, and head forward (so do you) and like to observe any areas of tension. I also like to test my ability to settle in. Today I could not settle šŸ˜‚

Take some time to observe your body today. What feels easy? What feels right or challenging? Are there any adjustments you could make in your yoga practice OR in your daily life to bring more comfort and ease into your body? Try it out!

I get tired of performative picture perfect worlds everywhere, in real life and online. Roll out of bed and hop on your mat. Be grungy. Be a mess. You don’t have to impress anyone, even if you post it on social media. Show that it’s ok to not have your s**t together all the time. It’s ok not to have your hair done or your clothes neat and tidy. It’s ok if you are these things, but if you feel like you HAVE to, take a little perfection vacation and be yourself, whatever that looks like in the moment. It’ll be fine, I promise.

Can we stop looking for ways to blame ā€œthe other sideā€ and come together to mourn the tragedies all of us see? Every Day? Just for a minute. It’s not about you and your party. It’s about lives that were tragically taken too soon.

You can return to your regular programming now. I’m not saying we should avoid politics- this is the time to pay attention more than ever before. But just take a minute to mourn.
