Trying to practice being strong without hardening.

Every single one of us is united by the fact that we suffer. Sort of depressing, but sort of promising. How can we reduce our own pain in order to be of service to others in need of some strong but soft loving kindness? How can we transform our pain into something productive and lovely?

For me, it’s self care. Sometimes I lose myself and what I need. And then I crash and burn. And right now I’m nourishing myself and doing what I need to do to be more present and helpful out in the wild. Is it selfish? Maybe. But we all deserve to be a little purposefully selfish from time to time 😅😉☺️💕

What’s my point? TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF SO THAT YOU CAN TAKE CARE OF OTHERS

Authenticity is the most beautiful quality I see in people.

I see a lot of people (and I’ve been there myself) who “try” to be good yogis. Say the right things, wear the right clothes, use the right voice, striving for that image of perfection, etc. But it’s not always genuine, is it? Who are you really? What if your authentic self, begging to break free from who you think you should be, is more beneficial to your community?

As I break out of my own shell and let my freak flag fly a little more, I tend to hear from students that my quirks and challenges are relatable. So what I see as awkward, social anxiety, someone else sees as validation that it’s ok to be like that, AND be a yoga practitioner/teacher. Be awkward today. 😂😍
