Congratulations to our Brian Center of Alleghany August Rehab Rockstars: Elizabeth Twitty and Bill Bennett!

Our first Rehab Rockstar, Ms. Twitty cried tears of joy for winning this award, all while earning her ticket home! When Ms. Twitty first started her rehab journey, she required the use of a hoyer, however by the time she left the facility she was modified independent in her room! She was also blessed with family support that made all the difference. She also had personal goals of being able to stand and to complete a car transfer by herself so she could still enjoy riding around with her husband. By the end she met both of those goals! So proud of you Elizabeth and hope you're doing well at home!

Our next rehab Rockstar is Mr. Bill Bennett. Bill truly is a medical miracle, and along his journey, he's given God all the glory! Bill has been in and out of hospitals for months, and despite having to overcome so many medical challenges, he faces each therapy session with determination and optimism. Recently, he's even been working with a cane as it's been his personal goal for home! When given the award, he thanked the therapy staff for recognizing him but really wanted to recognize the therapy staff as they had given him the tools he needed to succeed and be where he is today. We all love you Bill, notice all your hard work and wish you the best!

The Brian Center of Alleghany would like to congratulate our three newest CNA graduates! Alexis Swanson, Sanika Allen, and Karmen Abney.

They have done a great job during our 4-week class, and we are thrilled to have these young ladies join our team 💙!

August has been a busy month so far with new games weekly here at the Brian Center of Alleghany. This week we played the cheese puff challenge. Residents and team members joined in wearing a shower cap covered in shaving cream and teaming up with a partner to throw cheese puffs at their head!

Winners were Mr. Hendricks & Miss Schumaker as well as Kelsey & Kay James! The laughing warmed all our hearts!

Congratulations to our July Brian Center of Alleghany Rehab Rockstar: Brenda Cochran!

Talk about a woman set on meeting her goals and she blew them out of the park during her stay at the Brian Center. Brenda was able to progress from being wheelchair level to where she was trialing both a rollator and cane before leaving. She also increased her distances to meeting community distances as well.

She participated in many of the group activities with OT and met her goals becoming independent with her IADLs and ADLs in her room. We already miss her so much but know she's doing well at home. Way to go Ms. Cochran!
