Hi everyone. As the Chief of the Lowell General Hospital Paramedic Service I wanted to let you know about our recent expansion announcement that was made this past week.
Lowell General Hospital is putting into service a BLS transporting ambulance. The goal of this ambulance is to handle LGH campus to campus IFTs. The reason for this is to help with patient flow between our 2 campuses. Our targeted start date is July 1, 2018.
The ambulance in the picture is our new ambulance. We expect to be taking delivery of it this week.
We plan on hiring 3 full time EMT’s and 5 per diems EMT’s. Our EMT’s will not only be working on the ambulance but will also be cross trained as “ED Techs”. This will allow our EMT’s to be involved in patient care in the ER’s in addition to doing BLS calls between our campuses. The plan is to staff the ambulance 7 days a week, mostly during peak transfer times. We are planning on staffing the ambulance Monday through Friday for 12 hours per day and 8 hours per day on Saturday and Sunday.
If anyone is interested in applying for any of these 8 positions or know someone who is, please go online and fill out an application. If you go to www.lowellgeneral.org, click on “careers”, then click on “search career opportunities” and type in “EMT”. This will take you to the page where you can click on the position you may be interested in (req. 3105 is the per diem position and req. 3102 is the full time position). We plan on moving quickly with the process as we have an anticipated starting date of July 1, 2018.
We are leaving our paramedic units (P1, P100, P1000) in non-transporting vehicles.
We are very excited about this opportunity to be more involved and connected with our patients.
If you have any questions about this feel free to IM me or email me at shaun.dean@lowellgeneral.org. Thank you for reading this post.
