Has anyone heard any updates on the Tribe’s plans for legalizing medical ma*****na ?
This was something the new Council publicly committed to addressing. With a new election cycle on the horizon, I think it’s important we follow up on issues that matter to our community.

"Our findings suggest that broadening recreational ma*****na access could help address the opioid epidemic,” the report says. “Previous research largely indicates that ma*****na (primarily for medical use) can reduce opioid prescriptions, and we find it may also successfully reduce overdose deaths. Further, this effect increases with earlier implementation of RML [recreational ma*****na legalization,” authors wrote, “indicating this relationship is relatively consistent over time.” From the article.

•Yesterday, the Tribal Council received additional information for consideration, and we understand that the next steps include a thorough review by the Tribe’s legal counsel.

✅As we move forward, we want to express our gratitude for the council’s efforts and dedication to addressing this important issue. We recognize the complexities involved and appreciate their commitment to finding a way forward while staying true to their campaign promises.

💚Our group remains steadfast in its support of this initiative and is committed to working alongside the council to see it through. We believe this effort has the potential to bring healing, economic opportunities, and progress to our Tribe.
