From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to Derrick Skelton and family for the incredible gift you gave our family during our Lighthouse Family Retreat. Your willingness to come to Florida and selflessly pour into our lives—both practically and emotionally—left a lasting impact on us all.

You weren’t just our hosts; you were a safe place, a breath of fresh air, and a tangible reminder that we are seen, known, and loved. Your authenticity and the genuine way you sought to understand our journey—especially the hard parts—meant more than words can ever fully express. You made space for all of us, including Corbin’s siblings, who are so often overlooked in the midst of a cancer diagnosis. That alone was a sacred gift.

This week was life-changing. It gave me the space to rest, connect with my children, and restore our hope in the One who is still writing Corbin’s story. The kids are already asking when we can see “the Skeletons” again. We are truly looking forward to a long and meaningful friendship with your family.

We also want to extend a heartfelt thank-you to everyone involved with Lighthouse Family Retreat. It takes so much effort and behind-the-scenes work to host such a spectacular event. The generosity extended to our family, so we could attend, does not go unnoticed. Every detail reflected love and intention, and we are so grateful.

And finally, to my children—you deserved every moment of fun you had this week.

Madi, you were asked to do hard things when Corbin was sick, and you rose to the occasion. You helped raise your siblings in my frequent absence, and I am so proud of your strength and selflessness.

Cassidy, I know those years were incredibly hard for you. I hope you know I recognize every single sacrifice you made along the way. Your love for your brother was unwavering. I am so proud of your selflessness.

Corbin, you will always be the strongest kid I know. Your joy is contagious, and you deserve more fun than I could ever give. Watching you thrive this week filled my heart. I am so proud of you for stepping out of your comfort zone.

Kennedy, you were too little to understand what was happening when brother was sick, but God knew we would need your light. You have been the glue holding us together—our bright spot during the darkest moments.

This week reminded me that hope still lives here. And it lives in each of you.

Corbin had his routine scans last week and
today we got the result that he remains
❤️🎗️CANCER FREE🎗️❤️
And, unless something drastically changes,
he has no more scans.

He does have more tests to check on lingering side effects from chemo and radiation. Please pray that some of these things can be managed. It’s tough to know how hard these kids fight through the treatments that then give them possibly life long side effects.

This kid sure means the world to us.

September is childhood cancer awareness month. I will be going 🎗️GOLD🎗️ for childhood cancer. This month I am participating in a fundraiser through Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation. My goal is to walk 100 miles and raise $400 for cancer research. Any donation will help me reach my goal. Thank you in advance for your support. You can read more about my team by clicking the link.

I am on the board of directors for Lubbock Pediatric Cancer Association in Lubbock TX. My 13 year old son has had Hodgkins Lymphoma for two years and now in remission two years. For childhood cancer month our agency is doing speaking events in our local Christian schools. They have asked for prayer cards to give each student so that students will have a specific child to pray for throughout the year. I am reaching out to cancer families I follow to see if I could use their child's picture on a prayer card. It would just be a picture of the child that you provide (can either show face or not show face), first name, diagnosis, and one fun fact (ex: likes to play with trains, loves the beach, favorite food/color/animal, etc). This event is near and dear to our hearts. I am heading up the volunteer subcommittee, and I would love to help you find a place to help. You will be blessed by this event, I promise. If you are interested in volunteering please let me know.

Some things I need help with are people to interact with families (ex: guiding them to registration, make sure they see the different activities, answering questions about where to park and/or locate restrooms, etc); possible face painting, set up and tear down, possibly working game or activity booths, etc). There are many ways I can use your help!
