From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to Derrick Skelton and family for the incredible gift you gave our family during our Lighthouse Family Retreat. Your willingness to come to Florida and selflessly pour into our lives—both practically and emotionally—left a lasting impact on us all.
You weren’t just our hosts; you were a safe place, a breath of fresh air, and a tangible reminder that we are seen, known, and loved. Your authenticity and the genuine way you sought to understand our journey—especially the hard parts—meant more than words can ever fully express. You made space for all of us, including Corbin’s siblings, who are so often overlooked in the midst of a cancer diagnosis. That alone was a sacred gift.
This week was life-changing. It gave me the space to rest, connect with my children, and restore our hope in the One who is still writing Corbin’s story. The kids are already asking when we can see “the Skeletons” again. We are truly looking forward to a long and meaningful friendship with your family.
We also want to extend a heartfelt thank-you to everyone involved with Lighthouse Family Retreat. It takes so much effort and behind-the-scenes work to host such a spectacular event. The generosity extended to our family, so we could attend, does not go unnoticed. Every detail reflected love and intention, and we are so grateful.
And finally, to my children—you deserved every moment of fun you had this week.
Madi, you were asked to do hard things when Corbin was sick, and you rose to the occasion. You helped raise your siblings in my frequent absence, and I am so proud of your strength and selflessness.
Cassidy, I know those years were incredibly hard for you. I hope you know I recognize every single sacrifice you made along the way. Your love for your brother was unwavering. I am so proud of your selflessness.
Corbin, you will always be the strongest kid I know. Your joy is contagious, and you deserve more fun than I could ever give. Watching you thrive this week filled my heart. I am so proud of you for stepping out of your comfort zone.
Kennedy, you were too little to understand what was happening when brother was sick, but God knew we would need your light. You have been the glue holding us together—our bright spot during the darkest moments.
This week reminded me that hope still lives here. And it lives in each of you.
