We are always so proud of our entire team, and today they proved yet again what an extraordinary group we have. We just concluded our bariatric “Center of Excellence” survey (inspection) and were told they’re doing a “perfect job.”
This is not an easy process – of the 937 centers nationwide only 21 are ambulatory surgery centers. The Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP) follows a rigorous process to evaluate centers to ensure quality outcomes, and we are proud to have maintained this status since 2021.
Although the entire center shares the credit for contributing to this success – and to every patient’s successful outcome – we have to highlight the extraordinary dedication and hard work of our MBS Program Coordinator Jodie Sorrels, as well as our Clinical Director Olga Lara, MBS Clinical Reviewer Nikki Grimes, and MBS Program Director Dr. Adam Purtell and Dr. Travis Eggl. Together with our phenomenal anesthesiologists and CRNAs, they routinely perform complex bariatric procedures that help change – and save – the lives of so many patients.
We also want to express our special appreciation to the following for participating today and representing their teams: Jerome Morris (anesthesia), Amy Rodriguez (OR nurse), Sean Pitman (recovery nurse), Jennifer Nedeau (OR tech), and from West Texas Bariatrics at SWAT Surgical Nicole de los Santos (coordinator), Sarah Horn (dietitian and support group facilitator), and Dr. Patrick Randolph (psychology).
They and everyone at our centers always take outstanding care each and every patient and it’s impossible to name everyone, but our gratitude extends to all of you.
Last, but certainly not least, we want to thank our leadership, especially Medical Director Dr. Philip Scolaro who was able to call in despite traveling out of town with family, and our Governing Board, who place patient care above all other considerations.
And for our patients and families who put their faith and lives in our hands, trusting us to help them dramatically improve their health, we are truly humbled and thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
