It's all about expertly applied forces! While both Boston-style braces and WCR braces use three-point pressure systems, the results speak for themselves in this case. ​​​​​​​​​
Scoliosis involves 3-dimensional structural changes in the spine, so it needs a 3-dimensional brace. Squeezing the spine in an oval tube might control curve progression in the coronal plane, but this technique does not actually stabilize the spine. ​​​​​​​​

There are four core principles behind WCR bracing: elongation of the spine, three-point pressure systems, derotation, and triplanar postural improvement. Our Director of Clinical Education, Stephanie Romero, says it best:​​​​​​​​
"The four Rigo Cheneau principles are like the legs of a chair. If the chair only has 1, 2, or 3 legs, you're not going to want to sit in it. It is not stable."​​​​​​​​

You need all 4 legs of the chair and all 4 Rigo principles. Scoliosis bracing, just like life itself, is all about BALANCE. ​​​​​​​​
