To God we belong and to him we will all return.

As you might know by now, my dad, Dr. Fawwaz Shoukfeh has passed away. I started practicing medicine in 2017 and there hasn’t been a week that has gone by without at least one mutual patient asking about him or singing his praises. He was the hardest working person I’ve ever met, but yet he encouraged me to not over do it and spend as much time with the family as possible. Him and my mom put my siblings and I all on the right path, not just professionally but more important spiritually. I was proud to recently perform Umrah pilgrimage in Saudia Arabia on his behalf, may God accept it fully.

The last few weeks of his life he was so happy to witness a free Syria, a ceasefire in Gaza, and everyone of his kids, our spouses, and grandkids at his bedside praying for him. His last smile I witnessed was after seeing a picture of baby Raida, his little strong-willed firecracker.

May God give him the highest Heaven as an abode and use him to serve us a reminder that the ONLY thing that matters in this temporary world is your relationship with God.

One of my patients who had laser assisted cataract surgery told me, “I am so happy with my vision I might need to reverse my vasectomy and name my son after you; but not your last name, that’s to hard.” I told him to send me pictures of the newborn 😂.

We changed our electronic medical record provider less than a week ago. It’s completely different than what we have used in the past. The company that partnered with us has converted multiple practices before us and said we have picked it up the quickest to date. I am ridiculously proud how seriously our staff took training and hit the ground running. Of course, change can always be a painful process but to put it simply…..we got this!

They might not now this, but they are in for a treat 😂

Another one! I speak for everyone in our Cataract and Glaucoma crew at West Texas Eye that we are immensely proud of Megan Brock for passing her Certified Ophthalmic Assistant Test. She was focused and put in the work from day 1. An absolute sprint to the finish line when she could have made every excuse to take her sweet time. She is such an important team member and we are so proud to have her on our crew. 5 COA’s and counting! Who’s got next?

My 5 year old daughter giving it to my wife and I when she is mad at us.

When she is mad at me: "Mommy is smarter than you. She is a teacher and you are just an eye doctor. You only know about eyes"

When she is mad at her mom: "You are not a real doctor you are just a book doctor"
