🌟 Counselor Spotlight: Christina Truitt, LPC-S & Co-Owner 🌟

We’re beyond thrilled to introduce one of the incredible leaders behind our practice: Christina Truitt, our co-owner and Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor! Christina is not only a deeply compassionate and skilled therapist, but she also plays a huge role in shaping the heart of our mission, whether it be interacting with staff, providing supervision for counselors in training and associates, or just by being her awesome self! Her calm presence, wise insight, and strong faith create a safe space for clients and staff alike. She's one of those people who instantly makes you feel heard, understood, and encouraged. ♥️

Get to know a little more about Christina below — in her own words! ⬇️

🏞️ What inspired you to become a counselor?
When I was 16, I was at a church camp in the mountains and I was sitting on the porch and one by one, my friends came to sit and tell me what they were worried about or problems they were having and I would help them. Afterwards I learned about psychology and really knew that was my calling!

📆 How long have you been in the counseling field?
Being the youngest in the family, I would say my whole life! Professionally since 2009.

💬 What areas or populations do you specialize in?
My most favorite population are college students and young adults trying to figure out their next step, with uncertainty and anxiety. I am also very passionate about those struggling spiritually; questioning their faith; confused or hurt. I just want to show them the true love of God.

💡 What’s one thing you wish more people knew about counseling?
That it’s not scary and it for sure does not mean something is wrong with you or that you are not good enough or strong enough!

💞 What do you love most about being a counselor?
I love the honor of walking a client through whatever struggles they face. I am honored that a client would choose to share their heart with me and watching them grow and flourish!

🎠 What’s one fun fact people might not know about you?
I competitively showed Arabian horses in middle school and high school! I can always be found outside in nature somehow! 🐎

Christina’s story and passion are a beautiful reminder that counseling is about connection, growth, and healing — and we’re so blessed to have her leading that journey here. ✨

Let’s take a moment to pause and breathe.

This beautiful breath prayer by Sheridan Voysey is more than words: it’s a practice of releasing what weighs us down and receiving what God freely offers:

💗 “I receive your peace and release my anxiety”
💗 “I receive your self-control and release my self-indulgence”
💗 “I receive your joy and release my unhappiness”

Each line is a gentle invitation to breathe deeply, surrender what no longer serves, and welcome the Spirit’s transforming presence.

At Shiloh Counseling Services, we integrate faith and therapy to walk with you through healing—body, mind, and soul. Whether you’re carrying fear, impulsiveness, insecurity, or shame, you are never beyond the reach of God’s love or restoration.

📥 You are not alone in this. We’re here to walk with you.

Reactive thinking is quick, emotional, and often rooted in fear. Responsive thinking is intentional, calm, and values-driven.

We all react at times—it’s human. But growth happens when we begin to pause, breathe, and choose our next step with awareness.

This visual from .org offers a powerful reflection:
👉 Do I act on autopilot—or do I pause to breathe?
👉 Am I triggered—or curious?
👉 Do I react from fear—or respond from my values?

At Shiloh Counseling Services, we help clients recognize these patterns and build tools to shift from reactivity to response. Whether through talk therapy, spiritual integration, or even EMDR, we walk alongside you as you learn to regulate, reflect, and respond with purpose.

📥 Ready to shift your mindset and create lasting change? Reach out. We’re here.

Triggers aren’t weakness, they’re wounds calling out for care.

When we’re triggered, our nervous system is reacting to something that feels unsafe, familiar, or unresolved. The key isn’t to avoid triggers: it’s learning how to respond with compassion and tools.

This graphic from .health.with.emma reminds us:

Triggers come from real pain such as: abandonment, flashbacks, rejection, shame.

But healing means we can respond with grounding, journaling, connection, and self-affirmation.

👉 “I felt abandoned” → I will practice self-compassion
👉 “I was reminded of my trauma” → I will remind myself I am safe now

At Shiloh Counseling Services, we help you explore your story at your own pace—equipping you with gentle strategies like CBT, EMDR, and boundary-building to reclaim your sense of safety and identity.

📥 You’re not overreacting. You’re healing. Reach out when you’re ready.

Codependency—an emotional state of being in which you're dependent on the emotions of others, prioritize the needs of loved ones above your own, or allow the problems of others to dictate your life—can be difficult to overcome. Talking with a counselor can help. Learn more about codependency here:

"I thought: if I just helped my friends, colleagues and neighbors, maybe I'd get the connection I craved in love, work and life," writes journalist Gina Ryder.

Healing isn’t a straight line and it doesn’t start at the top. True therapeutic work begins with safety.

This insightful pyramid by .clinical.psychologist illustrates a core truth in our work at Shiloh Counseling Services,.
Before we explore trauma, we must first build safety, trust, and connection.

Here’s how we approach care, from the bottom up:
🔻 Feeling emotionally & physically safe
💜 Building secure relationships
🤝 Establishing co-regulation & comfort
🪞 Growing empathy & self-reflection
💪 Cultivating resilience & healthy coping
🔺 Then—exploring trauma

If you’ve ever felt like therapy was “too much too soon,” it may be because the foundation wasn’t there yet. That’s okay. At Shiloh, we go at your pace with compassion, faith, and safety at the center.

Ready to begin or try again? We’re here when you are.
