On July 3rd, UMC EMS had the opportunity to support Echo West Texas during the soft launch of their monthly CommUNITY Day, an initiative connecting individuals experiencing homelessness with vital services. Kelli Barrera and Jackie Adams assisted by conducting wellness checks and basic vital assessments. Kelli has been involved with Echo West Texas prior and plans to continue volunteering monthly.

We’re proud to support organizations working to break down barriers to care and serve our community!🙌

We’re excited to welcome the newest members to our UMC EMS family! They are currently working through our ‘new hire academy’—a training program where they learn our protocols, complete CEVO training to master ambulance operations, and run through real-world scenarios to prepare for the field. Today, our crew had the opportunity to participate in Disaster Day at Texas Tech Health Sciences Center! The event included multiple stations focused on mass casualty scenarios, giving us valuable hands-on experience. UMC also provided training on safe lifting techniques and proper patient transfers into our very own Ambus!

It was a great day of learning and collaboration, and we had a blast working alongside SPC and members of the Health Sciences Center. Huge thanks to everyone who made this event possible!

We love showing off the amazing work our crews do, and this one is too good not to share. Our very own K. Barrera embarked on a mission to help those less fortunate during this cold weather season. She collected donations from all of our team members, who graciously came together to turn her vision into a reality. Thanks to their generosity, K. Barrera was able to create 24 care packages, each filled with essential items like toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, gloves, wool socks, scarves, beanies, emergency tents, and hand warmers. Not pictured, but equally important, were jackets and blankets that were also donated. K. Barrera now carries these care packages to hand out whenever she encounters someone in need. Through her efforts, she's turned compassion into action, showing how a little kindness can make a big difference. This is how we spread hope, one small act of generosity at a time.

Together, we can bring warmth, support, and kindness to those who need it most. Stay warm out there and be safe!!❄️❤️
