: Age-related hearing loss (ARHL) tends to happen gradually—so gradually, you might not notice the changes at first. You may hear but not understand, or feel like everyone’s mumbling. High-pitched sounds (like birds or kids’ voices) may seem distant, and background noise makes conversations harder.

While this type of hearing loss is permanent, it can be managed—with hearing aids, assistive devices, and expert support.

If you or a loved one are noticing changes, don’t wait. Use our directory to find a hearing care provider near you. Early action can make all the difference in staying connected and confident.

Many different things can cause hearing loss, but the most common are noise exposure and aging.

Noise exposure—loud environments can damage the tiny hair cells in your inner ear, which don’t regenerate. Protect your hearing with earplugs and by limiting time in loud places.

Aging naturally affects our hearing. As we get older, the inner ear cells can deteriorate, making it harder to hear high-pitched sounds. This process affects many people over time. But the good news? Early detection and hearing aids can help!

Genetic conditions, health conditions like diabetes, heart disease, and even certain medications can impact your hearing as well.

Regular check-ups can help catch these issues early and protect your hearing for years to come! 👂💡
