Know What to Do: Heimlich Help Can Save a Life

Choking can happen in an instant but knowing how to respond could make all the difference.

Here’s a quick breakdown of the Heimlich maneuver for adults and older children:

1️⃣ Stand behind the person. Make a fist with one hand and place the thumb side against the upper abdomen, just above the belly button and below the ribcage.
2️⃣ Wrap your other hand around your fist.
3️⃣ Use quick, upward thrusts into the abdomen.
4️⃣ Repeat until the object is expelled.

"We never like to go to an ER but if needed, we would prefer to go to Star ER vs the larger hospital ER's. Our normal clinic walk-in was closed so we had to go to an urgent care for a relatively minor issue and I was happy with our choice. They are less crowded and therefor less likely to pick up some random illness sitting in a crowded waiting room, they accommodated my child well, and respected our needs from what was.." says Sarah on Google
