The TTRC has been an excellent resource for me after having a Subarachnoid Hemorrhagic Stroke and brain surgery.

I have been an animal lover my whole life, but never expected the special feeling of building mutual trust, respect, and appreciation with the horse I ride, Lilly. Fortunately, Lilly is also a very patient lady!

Before I started the Therapeutic Riding Program, I had no riding experience. I was so excited my first day riding Lilly! At the end of my lesson, she gave me a “horse hug” and a nose to nose nuzzle too!

I completely underestimated the amount of physical strength and cognitive energy it requires to ride a horse! Especially post stroke!

I always look forward to learning from the truly excellent therapeutic riding instructors and horses.

Therapeutic riding has given me the opportunity to feel more in control of my body, improved my physical strength, and provides the best kind of cognitive rehab therapy!

I will always be grateful for each person at TTRC who have been my instructors, encouragers, and brought much joy to my life!

Another reason to be grateful: Thanks to our volunteer Amy for the kind words
I have loved getting to volunteer out at TTRC these last several months! I started this summer and got to meet and be involved with all of the horses, the riders and the amazing staff.
I quickly saw what a wonderful benefit that TTRC is for our community! It’s not only therapy for the rider and the horse, the volunteers get that benefit too. I always looked forward to my shifts in the mornings. It was fun seeing which horse I was getting to interact with, which rider, and which instructor!
The wonderful people that run it and keep it operating make it look easy, and I know that’s because of all the hard work they are doing behind the scenes. I am so proud to be a small part of this great place!

For this season of gratitude, we wanted to showcase some of the amazing individuals that are part of the TTRC team. Here is our first one:

Colton started hippotherapy at TTRC at 2 to work on sensory processing and speech delay. Riding weekly on Michael has been a huge blessing. He said his first full sentence while riding Michael. Through hippotherapy, Colton has been able to reach and master all of his therapy goals and is now caught up to his peers in sensory and fine motor skills as well as his speech. We saw such regulation and progress using the horse beyond traditional therapy that I can not recommend it enough.
