Today, on Mental Health Provider Day, we want to recognize and celebrate the incredible counselors and mental health professionals who serve our communities with compassion, dedication, and heart. đź’™

To our Phoenix Arise team — thank you for the work you do every single day for individuals, children, couples, and families across Lubbock, Farmers Branch, and the greater Texas community.

Thank you for sitting with people in their hardest moments.
Thank you for creating safe spaces for healing.
Thank you for helping clients rediscover hope, resilience, and strength.

Mental health work requires emotional presence, patience, wisdom, and deep compassion — and we are continually inspired by the care our counselors provide both in and out of the therapy room.

Your impact reaches far beyond sessions. You are helping change lives, strengthen families, and build healthier communities across Texas.

Today, we celebrate and honor YOU. ✨

With gratitude,
Phoenix Arise

Sometimes a child’s behavior doesn’t quite make sense.

They seem to “check out.”
They deny things that clearly happened.
They shift quickly between moods or reactions.

It’s easy to assume:
attention issues, anxiety, or behavior challenges.

But sometimes, what we’re seeing is something else entirely.

Dissociation is a protective response to overwhelming experiences—and in children, it often hides in ways that are easy to miss.

In our latest blog, we explore:
• what dissociation is
• how it shows up in children
• and why it’s so often misunderstood

Understanding this can change how we respond—and how we support children who need it most.

Some cases ask more of us.

When things feel stuck, unclear, or complex, it can be hard to know how to move forward on your own.

Our consultation group offers a space for clinicians to slow down, think deeply, and gain clarity in complex trauma work—while being supported in the process.

Our next cohort begins May 2026, and spots are limited.

If you’re a clinician working with complex trauma, you’ve likely encountered cases that feel stuck, unclear, or difficult to move forward.

You don’t have to navigate those alone.

Our Group Consultation Cohort (starting May 2026) is designed to help you strengthen case conceptualization, build confidence with complex presentations, and apply practical interventions you can use immediately.

This is a small, depth-oriented group grounded in relational safety and nervous system awareness—not surface-level consultation.

Spots are limited to preserve depth, and filling up quick - enrollment is now open

In the playroom, “resistance” can show up in a lot of ways—shutting down, changing the subject, refusing, getting irritated right when things start to feel important.

But with children who have experienced complex trauma, that moment is often misunderstood.

What looks like resistance is frequently a nervous system signal:
“This is as much as I can handle right now.”

When we shift from seeing behavior to understanding regulation, the work changes.

We move from pushing → to pacing
From compliance → to capacity
From questioning → to listening

And sometimes, what feels like a “stuck” session is actually the work happening in real time.

✨ The newest Phoenix Arise newest blog explores this shift:
Resistance in the Playroom: What It’s Really Telling Us

A client once paused mid-session and said:
“I know something is happening… I just don’t have words for it.”

If you work with trauma, you’ve probably heard some version of this.

Dissociation can be incredibly hard to describe—especially for clients experiencing it in real time.

That’s exactly why the Dissociative Experiences Cards Premium Bundle was created.
Instead of searching for words, clients can recognize themselves in what’s already written—opening the door to deeper understanding and conversation.

Inside the bundle:
• Physical decks for in-session use
• Digital decks for telehealth or flexible access
• A clinician manual to support intentional, trauma-informed use

It’s a simple tool—but in practice, it can shift a session from “I don’t know” to real clarity.

⚠️ There are only 10 premium bundles left

If this is something your clients could benefit from, you can explore it here:
