A St. Patrick’s Day surprise, HELD in the perfect place. 🍀💚

✨ Welcome to the world, Isabella! ✨
Born March 17, 2025

This beautiful family joined us as late transfers, coming into care at 37 weeks, and from the moment we met them, we knew they were something special. We are so grateful their journey led them here. One of their hopes was to have a water birth, but this sweet girl had her own plans, arriving right where she was meant to be, on the bed, into her father’s waiting hands.

Thank you to Organically You Placenta Encapsulation for creating such a beautiful way to honor this moment with this stunning keepsake placenta print, a reminder of the incredible life-giving connection that sustained this sweet baby.

We are so honored to have been part of this story. Welcome, Isabella. 💚

🎉 Happy Birthday to Caroline! 💗

She may be off relaxing today, but we couldn’t let the day go by without celebrating her.

We surprised her last week with a little birthday party after one of our team meetings, complete with balloons, cupcakes, and a birthday princess sash.

Around here, we lovingly call her the Disney princess of midwifery. It’s our way of recognizing the way she speaks with calm, thoughtful clarity in moments that matter most.

Caroline is a skilled midwife and a steady, compassionate presence for the families we serve. We’re so grateful for the care, strength, and heart she brings to every part of this work.

✨ Welcome to the world, Lucy Rae! ✨
Born March 12, 2025 | 7 lbs 4 oz

This sweet girl made her entrance just before the sun rose, after a day of patience and perseverance. Her parents embraced every moment of the journey—taking birth classes, hiring a doula, and leaning into the support of their care team to prepare for their first baby’s arrival.

Labor began slowly after Lucy’s mama’s water broke early in the morning, but by evening, things were in motion. With her doula and husband by her side and the Held team close by, she labored with confidence and welcomed her daughter in the water.

From beginning to end, Lucy’s birth was filled with intention, care, and strength. Her parents embraced the journey wholeheartedly, and we’re so honored to have been part of this beautiful beginning.

Expanding Skills, Expanding Options

Earlier this week, birth workers from across West Texas gathered for a breech birth training led by Dr. Stuart Fischbein. It was an incredible opportunity to learn more about how to support breech birth safely and skillfully.

The night before the workshop, we had the chance to visit with some of the midwives who came into town. We’re so grateful for the connections made and encouraged by the growing sense of community among midwives in our region. There’s something powerful about coming together to learn, grow, and support each other in this work.

At Held Midwifery & Wellness, we’re always looking for ways to expand access and options for the families we serve. Continuing to develop our knowledge and skills around breech presentation is one way we work to preserve physiologic birth and support informed choice—no matter the circumstances.

West Texas birth workers are doing incredible things—and we’re honored to be part of that story.

✨ Welcome to the world, baby Noah! ✨
Born March 8, 2025

This handsome little guy made his way earthside in the water, surrounded by love and support. It was his mama’s first unmedicated birth—and what a powerful, brave journey it was.

Noah’s family has been cheering for Held from the very beginning, and we were so honored when they chose to make the drive and transfer into our care mid-pregnancy. Though this birth brought unexpected challenges, it also brought deep connection and strength. After Noah was born, both he and his mama needed a little extra help. We transferred to the hospital together, where dad stayed with baby and we stayed with mom, walking beside them as they received the support they needed.
Noah’s birth is a beautiful reminder that birth doesn’t always follow the plan, but it can still be full of peace, power, and love.

We are so grateful to have been part of this story—Held in Strength. 💚
