Not long after the first, she began experiencing severe jaw pain…then frequent episodes of lockjaw.

Ever feel like your neck tension just won’t quit, no matter how much you stretch?

Let’s talk about a small but mighty group of muscles:

the suboccipitals.

These tiny muscles sit right under the base of your skull and can get really aggravated but not always because something is wrong with your spine.

They often tighten in response to other systems in your body like:

👉 Eye strain
👉 Jaw tension (TMJ)
👉 Inner ear (vestibular) imbalances

So if you’re dealing with chronic neck tension, dizziness, or even headaches… it might not be that you need an adjustment. It could be your body responding to something deeper.

“Will I have to come in forever once I start getting adjusted?”

Totally fair question and the short answer is: no, that’s not the goal.

When we adjust the spine, our aim is to help it move the way it was designed to…not to keep doing the same thing over and over.

Think of it like changing the oil in your car. You don’t do it every day. Once it’s fixed, we give your body time to respond, adapt, and hold that correction.

If we keep needing to adjust the same area constantly, it tells me we need to step back and reassess:

– Are we addressing the right segment?
– Are we adjusting the right direction?
– Is the body getting overwhelmed?

This is where precision matters. And it’s why we always adjust with purpose, not pressure.

It’s the only part of your brain you can touch… with your finger.

Crazy, right?

Your eye is more than just how you see the world… it’s connected to your brain, your balance, and even your neck.

That’s why after a concussion, we don’t just look at your head.

We check the eyes, the neck, the inner ears because healing isn’t just about what hurts… it’s about what’s not working together anymore.

Your vision system is like mission control for your whole body.

So yes… I test the eyes often.

Because they tell me what your brain won’t.

And yes… they’re almost good enough to eat. ( I’ Kidding ) 😄👁️🍽️

“Is one of your legs actually shorter… or is something else going on?”

You’d be surprised how many people think they have a “short leg”.

When in reality, it’s a compensation pattern caused by muscle tension and fascia pulling due to upper cervical misalignments.

Your body is smart. When something’s off at the top (like the atlas being out of alignment), everything below it adjusts to keep your eyes level. That ripple effect can pull your pelvis, shift your hips, and make one leg appear shorter.

We don’t guess, we assess. Because balancing your body starts at the top, not the feet.
