West Texas Bariatrics at SWAT Surgical Dr. Eggl and Dr. Purtell are board-certified, fellowship-trained bariatric surgeons in Lubbock, TX Drs.

Dr. Travis Eggl, Surgeon comes to Lubbock from The University of Alabama at Birmingham where he completed a fellowship in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery. Prior to his fellowship, Dr. Eggl received his residency training in general surgery at The University of South Alabama. Dr. Eggl is the only board-certified, fellowship-trained bariatric surgeon living and working in Lubbock, Texas. Dr

. Adam Purtell is board certified in general surgery and is one of the few Fellowship Trained Bariatric Surgeons in the state of Texas. This means that he has received additional highly specialized training in Bariatric surgery. He received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch Galveston and Texas Tech Department of Surgery. Dr. Purtell then traveled to Houston where he completed his one-year Fellowship in Advanced Laparoscopy and Bariatric Surgery with the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. He is also a member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. Eggl and Purtell are currently accepting new bariatric and general surgery patients. Advanced laparoscopic procedures including:

• Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass

• Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy

• Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Band

• Laparoscopic Paraesophageal Hernia Repair

• Laparoscopic Nissen Fundoplication

• Laparoscopic Colectomy

• Laparoscopic LINX procedure treating GERD



All Patients interested in bariatric surgery are asked to attend an informational seminar presented by Dr. Eggl. Seminars are typically scheduled in the evenings twice a month.
