God Is Still Working - Ed Newton

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose” – Romans 8:28

One of the hardest parts of walking with God is trusting Him when you cannot see what He is doing. We like progress we can measure, results we can track, and clear signs that things are moving forward. But God does some of His greatest work behind the scenes, in places we cannot see and in ways we cannot fully understand.

Just because you cannot see change happening does not mean nothing is happening. God often works in the hidden places, aligning people, circumstances, and opportunities to bring His plan together in the perfect time. Think about the roots of a tree. You do not see them growing beneath the surface, but they are spreading and strengthening every day, preparing the tree to stand strong when the storms come.

There are prayers you have prayed that are already in motion, even though you have not seen the answer yet. There are doors God is opening for your future that you do not even know exist right now. There are relationships being formed, opportunities being prepared, and obstacles being removed without your knowledge. He does not always let us see every detail, but He calls us to trust His heart even when we cannot trace His hand.

Our job is to remain faithful where we are and to keep seeking Him daily. Just like a seed buried in the ground, growth is often unseen until the right moment. And when that moment comes, what God has been doing behind the scenes will be undeniable.

So if it feels like nothing is happening, do not lose hope. The silence does not mean absence, and the waiting does not mean nothing is moving. God is working right now, even in ways you cannot see. Trust Him with the unseen, because He sees the whole picture, and He is always moving for your good.

At church this morning I had a new realization when the Pastor was talking about how God is light. We usually receive this as a visual thing, that God is light and we can look for him and seek him in the darkness. Then it dawned on me, what if it isn’t just a visual light? It’s a weight thing. He also feels light when everything else feels heavy. Scripture says that his yoke is easy and his burden is light, so as we go into this week let’s remind ourselves that anything that seems dark or heavy is not God. We live in a dark and heavy world, but that is not Gods desire for us. He wants us to live in him and experience a light load and a light to seek. Let’s spend intentional time visualizing God right with us and see how that changes the heaviness or darkness we feel. Not just saying “I know the Holy Spirit is within me” but intentionally choosing to see him near you or within you. Let’s pursue his presence harder than the fear we pursue in this world.

To live, love and have faith like a child today. This is my wish. While remembering 9.11 and how a nation came together that day, may we do the same today and moving forward.

Get Above The Clouds - Ed Newton

“Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth” – Colossians 3:2

When life isn’t going the way you hoped, it’s easy to turn inward. The frustration, the disappointment, and the unmet expectations can pull your focus completely onto yourself. You start thinking only about what you’ve lost, what’s wrong, and what you wish was different. I know because I’ve done it more times than I’d like to admit. And while it feels natural in the moment, it never actually helps.

There has to be a point where you decide to break that cycle. Where you stop letting your emotions keep you stuck in the clouds and start looking beyond them. When you go vertical, choosing to praise God despite how you feel or what you see, you lift your perspective above the weight of the moment.

Think about being on a plane. You can be surrounded by gray skies, turbulence, and storm clouds. But once the plane climbs higher, you break through into sunlight that’s been there all along. The weather didn’t change above the clouds; it was always clear. You just couldn’t see it from where you were sitting.

The same is true in your walk with God. Your circumstances may not change immediately, but when you set your eyes above them, you begin to see His presence, His power, and His goodness more clearly. You remember that He’s still working, still in control, and still moving things toward your ultimate good.

Getting above the clouds doesn’t mean ignoring what’s hard. It means refusing to let the hard things block your view of the God who’s bigger than them. When you feel yourself spiraling inward, stop. Lift your eyes. Praise Him for who He is, not just for what He’s done. The clouds may stay for a while, but your heart will see the sun again. And you’ll remember that even when it’s cloudy here, it’s always clear where God is.

One plant bloomed.
Another grew taller.
Another grew deeper roots.

Same seed.
Different kind of growth.

And I realized
not all progress is visible.
Not all growth looks like flowers.

Sometimes it’s reaching higher.
Sometimes it’s holding steady.
Sometimes it’s digging down quietly, unseen.

Because not every season is about blooming.
Some seasons are about building.
Some are about preparing.
Some are about laying foundations for what’s next.

So wherever you are....
whether you’re blooming, standing still, or quietly strengthening...

Remember this:
IT ALL COUNTS
It’s all progress.

Life will always have its mix of sorrow and celebration. Relationships will always need good boundaries and goodbyes. But the greatest joy in life isn’t when it all works out like we hoped it would. It’s when we experience the God of the universe pausing to reach us and remind us, we aren’t alone.

What hurts us will not be our full story. And this broken world isn’t our final destination. With God, there’s so much more.

Pain and heartbreak are hard. But I’m learning we must not resist the blessing of brokenness that tills the ground of our heart. Breaking up the unplowed ground of our heart makes it ready for new life, new growth and new maturity that can’t be found any other way.

And in the midst of all that leaves our hearts aching, we must seek God like never before. Part of seeking Him is allowing for grace space in our life — granting God’s grace a space in our mind, our heart, our life.

When circumstances of life leak us dry, we can see this emptiness as an opportunity. Instead of reacting out of emptiness, we can choose to see that this emptiness is the perfect spot for a space of grace in life.

The Blessing Is Always Greater - Ed Newton

“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.” - Romans 8:18

When you’re in the middle of the struggle, the weight can feel unbearable. The sacrifice feels costly. The obedience feels painful. It can feel like no one sees what you’re giving up, how much you’re enduring, or how heavy the burden really is. And in those moments, the question creeps in, “Is it even worth it?”

God’s Word gives you a bold and clear answer. Yes. A thousand times, yes. The suffering, the sacrifice, the pressing, the stretching, the waiting. It’s not even close to what God has in store for those who trust Him. Romans 8:18 says the glory that is coming cannot even be compared to the pain you feel now. In other words, the blessing God has planned will always outweigh the struggle it took to get there.

But you need to know this, too. The blessing is not just something you wait to see in heaven. God brings glimpses of that glory here and now. He restores what was broken. He heals what was wounded. He opens doors you never saw coming. He multiplies peace, pours out joy, and floods your life with purpose that makes the pain make sense. His blessings may not always come how you expect, but they always come.

God never wastes sacrifice. He honors obedience. He sees every tear, every silent surrender, every moment you could have taken the easy way out but chose to follow Him instead. And when God pours out blessing, it always overflows. It presses down and runs over. It is more than enough.

If you’re in a season of sacrifice right now, hold on. God’s not finished yet. The same God who called you into it will see you through it. And when He does, you’ll look back and say, “It was worth it. Every bit of it.” Because with God, the reward always outweighs the cost.
