Prepare your child about going to therapy by explaining what will happen and why. Knowing what to expect will help alleviate anxiety. Let your child know that they can talk to you if they choose about how they feel about their therapist and the process. Discuss with your child's therapist during the initial intake session about how to introduce your child to the therapy process.

For many families the activities and intensities of the month of May can feel like the amount of activities and intensities of December. “Maycember” is just a fun play-on word that resonates. Schedules fill up and frequently change with end of school events, graduations, recitals, sports play offs, performances, etc. When we are in survival mode, we are also in protection mode. Invite your nervous system and your child’s nervous system into connection with these strategies!
