A child going “0 to 100” is rarely random—it’s a clue about their nervous system. Your role isn’t to fix it instantly but to read the signs, lower the baseline, and walk with them as they build regulation skills. Swipe through the slides, learn the “why,” and integrate a few of the 12 possible strategies.

Hey friends, it’s Kelly here—business owner, therapist, writer (just published my first book!), mother, and partner. My work spans many roles: I practice Child-Centered Play Therapy, facilitate filial (family) play therapy, supervise graduate students and pre-licensed counselors, teach as an adjunct at LCU, and provide play therapy through SPCAA Head Start programs. I hold the reins for these social media accounts-so when you interact with them, you interact with me! (Sadly I can only access Instagram through Meta Business—so I now miss out on the feed of all the wonderful accounts I follow). I value visibility and accessibility to information which fuels time well spent on these platforms. If you have a friend who isn’t on socials—we have helpful blogs on our website!

We have an immediate 6:30pm time-slot open on Tuesdays with our graduate student, Allyson, or other options with Kathy! Here’s our typical process:
1. Schedule an Appointment – Call our office directly to book your first session.
2. Parent Consultation (Session 1) – An initial session with parents only to share concerns, history, and goals.
3. Play Therapy (Sessions 2–4) – Your child begins play therapy sessions to explore, express, and process through play.
4. Parent Follow-Up (Session 5) – Parents and therapist meet to review progress, insights, and strategies for support at home.
5. Ongoing Therapy – The cycle of play therapy and parent sessions continues until therapist and parents collaboratively agree that the child has made meaningful progress.

Grab a cup of monomyth_coffee at our come-and-go open house on Friday, September 19th. You’re welcome to embark on a self-guided tour of our building. We’ll provide you with an info sheet to guide your experience. We will also be on site and available to answer questions along the way. You’ll discover how each space works together to create a supportive environment where children can grow, heal, and thrive—and where parents feel included in the process.

Books are a wonderful way of making hard topics easier and building the parent/child bond. I haven’t read every single book here (though we have even more options of books in our waiting room ! 📖). These are favorites gathered from many trusted lists. Please preview before sharing with your child, and let me know if you have a favorite I should add!
