Our first car seat fitting event is being held this afternoon at 4p-6p at the Ludlow Fire Station. Stop in and have one of our certified technicians help install your car seats and boosters.

We will be having car seat fittings on the first Monday of every month from 4p-6p at the Ludlow Fire Department.

Following our training with our Paramedics and CCP’s we were able to bring the rest of our providers in to practice ventilation, the benefits of PEEP, as well as review of tidal volumes while using our Zoll monitor’s for real time feedback.

Big thanks again to Adams Farm Slaughterhouse, LLC for providing pig lungs. Being able to get resources like pig lungs, which share similar qualities of human lungs, helps to give all of our providers a better simulation while ventilating.

Earlier this week our Paramedics and CCP’s got the opportunity to train with pig lungs and tracheas. Skills included ventilator management, the benefits of PEEP, and cricothyrotomy. Being able to hone in on these skills helps keep all of our providers confident and capable to treat whatever situation may arise.

Big thank you to Springfield Hospital, Inc. - VT for allowing us to borrow their ventilator, as well as Adams Farm Slaughterhouse, LLC for providing us with the pig lungs and tracheas!

A heat advisory has been issued for our area from 11am today until 8p Tuesday 6/24. Keep an eye on your family and friends especially the elderly and young children for heat related illnesses. Symptoms may include, nausea, dizziness, headache, heavy sweating, cramping, lightheadedness. If you experience these symptoms move to a cooler area and if symptoms worsen call 911.

Stay hydrated, limit outdoor activities and wear lightweight, light colored clothing.

Happy EMS week to not only all of our fellow EMS agencies, but most especially to each and every employee we have that helps to serve the communities of Ludlow, Proctorsville, Cavendish, Plymouth, and Mount Holly!

Our staff which is comprised of 2 Critical Care Paramedics, 2 Paramedics, 5 Advanced EMTs, 10 EMTs, and 6 VEFRS all help bring 24/7 365 coverage all while spending nights and holidays away from their own families. Join us in wishing them all a happy EMS week and for servicing with LAS!!!

Last week Paramedic Mancino, Paramedic Clark, AEMT Chambers, And EMT Bishop completed the child passenger safety technician class. The course was three full days ending with a car seat fitting event on the fourth day. Congratulations to all of the students for completing this course.

We are excited to be offering regularly scheduled car seat fittings to our community. Fittings will be offered on the second Monday of the month from 4p-6p at the Ludlow Fire Station and by appointment. Our first scheduled event will be held in June.

Upcoming Advanced EMT course in Ludlow

This course will be held at the Ludlow Vermont Fire Department and will start on April 30. Classes will be happening on Wednesdays each week from 9-5p. Classes run through September 10!

There will be four skills sessions throughout the course held on Fridays. Any current EMT is welcome to apply!
