📢 St. Luke’s Health-Memorial Lufkin, a member of CommonSpirit, is proud to serve as a sponsor for the annual Senior Life Expo, presented in collaboration with the Lufkin Daily News!

As the largest health care system in Deep East Texas, we're committed to the well-being of our community. That's why we're so thrilled to partner with local businesses and organizations to bring essential health care education and resources directly to you at Thursday's Senior Life Expo.

Baseball was the theme for the SLHM booth. Vendors chose various themes for their booths to help enhance the experience for attendees.

This event isn't just about information; it's about empowerment. By bringing together a diverse array of health care providers, we're helping our neighbors access the tools they need to live healthier lives. This proactive approach can significantly impact our community by reducing the need for critical care services and emergency department visits for serious conditions. We believe a healthier community is a stronger community, and the Senior Life Expo is a vital step toward that goal!

Women with a family history of cancer have a higher than average risk for breast cancer. A family’s cancer history includes ovarian, pancreatic, aggressive prostate cancer or breast cancer diagnosed at 50 or younger.

Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center recommends women with a family history of cancer schedule a genetic risk assessment. Breast oncologists at its Dan L Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center offer at-risk women a comprehensive review of their medical and family history, genetic counseling and testing, a treatment plan for breast cancer screening and risk reduction during their first appointment.

A hit to the head is a serious matter. Here’s what to do after your child experiences a concussion, a type of head injury that causes changes in thinking and functioning:

🛑Get medical care quickly: This is the most crucial step! A doctor can properly diagnose the concussion and rule out any more serious injuries.
🛑Remember, rest is best: The brain needs time to heal after a concussion. Avoid any activities that require physical or mental strength.

Knowing what to do can make a big difference in the recovery process. Keep reading about how to protect young athletes from concussions: https://ow.ly/mpLK50X3XEJ

🎀 Get ready to VOTE for your favorite art bra! 🎀
Our incredibly talented designers have unleashed their creativity in support of breast cancer awareness, participating in the 2025 Power of Pink! Art Bra Contest!
This year's theme, "Laughter is Good Medicine," has brought forth some truly remarkable and unique creations. These art bras are more than just beautiful – they're a powerful, artistic reminder of the importance of breast cancer screening.
The Art Bra tradition started with a touching tribute: a woman honoring her mother who passed from breast cancer, creating a decorated bra from her belongings. That spark grew into a movement combining art, remembrance, and vital awareness.
The talent and creativity on display are absolutely ✨ phenomenal ✨. These finalist bras will be showcased on the runway at our annual Power of Pink! Luncheon, modeled by amazing community volunteers – get ready for some surprises and entertainment!
Stay tuned for voting details and a sneak peek at these inspiring works of art!
