Let me take a second to introduce myself to our new friends! My friends have done an amazing job at inviting others to join my page.
I’m a small time homesteader who is learning new “old ways” daily. Located in deep east Texas. I live on a pinetum.
I prefer a day outside near water, gardening, playing with my animals or in the kitchen perfecting a new dish. Laying around all day makes me stir crazy.
I believe that our society has come so far that we’re to the point of going hungry if the local grocery store shuts down. I hope it never does but I like to know I’m able to feed my family if it ever does. I’ve pretty well mastered bread but I have bigger goals.
My goals this year include:
Bringing a milk source to the homestead
Canning/drying/preparing enough food for next winter
Sourcing our meat locally- currently have local beef, deer, fish and some bison. I hope to add chicken, pork and maybe rabbits or quail to that this year. We have our chicken tractor ready!
Learning to sew once the spring garden is canned
Make tinctures, teas and salves for our medicine. -my first tincture will be a “grief relief” tincture.
Growing enough tomatoes that I can stock our home plus some. I love the different varieties and they’re my biggest thing I’m looking forward to.
Grow a memorial cut flower garden in honor of my dad that I lost in October. I’m still cycling through the grief process and it’s harder than I could have ever imagined.
Learn to use all of the power tools to build my own things. My husband is so excited about this one….. 🤭
If you’ve made it this far, I’m also a senior account manager in the cyber security world. I’m blessed with a job that allows me to work remotely so I’m almost always home.
We have 4 kiddos and it’s constant chaos. There’s not an uneventful day! I am so thankful for each and every one of them. They’re all smart, funny and strong. You’ll likely see my littlest girl in more of my pictures because she’s still mama’s shadow! We’re all learning this homestead life together. I hope they take some of this knowledge in to their own families one day.
If you can relate to any of this then I’d love to be friends!
