Texas really said, “We don’t have one accent… we have OPTIONS.” 🤠😭
Drive a couple hours and suddenly everything changes.
Start in West Texas and it’s slow, rugged, cowboy energy — every word sounds like it’s been through heat, dust, and a long drive with no signal.
Slide into Central Texas and now it’s smoother, a little more relaxed — still Southern, but cleaned up just enough to order tacos and talk business in the same sentence.
Keep heading east… and now you’re in full Southern drawl territory, where “y’all” turns into “y’aaall” and conversations move at their own pace.
Then you hit South Texas. 🌵
And now it’s a whole different rhythm — Tex-Mex influence, Spanish blended in, fast, expressive, and full of flavor.
Same state. Same highways.
Completely different conversations.
You don’t just drive through Texas…
you switch accents mid-road trip without even realizing it. 🚗🔥

This is hard. I am here.

There’s a very specific kind of stress
that comes with aging parents.

It’s like…

you’re the child
but also suddenly the tech support
the emotional support
the medical coordinator
and the person explaining the same thing… again.

—

“Did you try turning it off and on again?”
but for life.

—

So yes… we breathe:

Hand on heart.
“This is hard.”
“I’m here.”

(Extremely advanced practice: admitting this is hard.)

—

And then:

Text someone.
“Can you hold this with me?”

Because doing it all alone
is a very popular strategy
with very poor results.

—

No one wins the
“I handled everything perfectly and never needed help” award.

(It’s right next to the
“They replied to every message instantly and stayed calm” award.)

—

Also:

You can love your parents deeply
and still need a break.

Both can exist.
Your nervous system has confirmed this.

—

This season is a lot.

Logistically.
Emotionally.
Spiritually.
Technologically.

—

If you’re in it right now…

you’re not behind.
you’re not failing.
you’re just… in it.
