Our healthcare coordinators were recently spotted at Pinecrest Retirement Community, spreading fun and kindness!

Hillary Fiscus, RN, and Sarah Norris, RN, had a great time participating in an adult Vacation Bible Study with the residents.

The focus of VBS was kindness, centered around Ephesians 4:32: "Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you."

In hospice care, kindness and tenderheartedness are vital for properly serving our patients and families.

We need more kindness in this world, and we need more kindness at Gentiva. If you would like to learn to volunteer your time, talents, and kindness, WE WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU.

Call us at 936.899.7123.

Please help us welcome Cherish Dyson, RN, to our Gentiva team. Cherish joined us in May 2024 as a part-time RN but has been serving in hospice since 2015. Now, she brings additional kindness and compassion to our phenomenal Gentiva team.

Cherish loves that she has the opportunity to make a positive impact at the end of a patient's life. She wants this impact to be one that the patient's loved ones will treasure and cherish for years to come.

When not serving in hospice, Cherish is likely playing at the beach or in the mountains with her husband and 3 kids, sipping vanilla coke, and indulging in a bag of popcorn!

Nurse Assistant Week continues, and we want to take a moment to celebrate these Gentiva Gems. Sanda Limbrick, CNA; Robecca Woods, CNA; and Linda Jones, CNA, are dedicated, caring, and hard-working individuals. We are incredibly blessed to have them serving alongside each of us at Gentiva Lufkin.

Anytime prayer is asked for during our morning or afternoon call, Sandra is quick to lead us. She thanks God for the opportunity to serve others one more day and asks for a dose of grace, strength, and stamina to continue to serve with an abundance of compassion. Her prayers are so valued.

If we want to belly laugh and decompress with fun stories, Robecca is our girl. We know that our patients and families love and appreciate her outlook as well.

Linda radiates grace, patience, and kindness, and though she is new to our team, we quickly understood why she was a perfect fit for us. Everyone could use a little more Linda in their life.

Thank you, ladies, for the wonderful work you do. You are VALUED and greatly APPRECIATED.

We love to celebrate our team, and as we prepare to celebrate and highlight our CNAs this week, we must first stop and publicly wish two of our beloved RNs a very happy birthday.

Last week, we had the privilege of celebrating the birthdays of Hillary FIscus, RN, on Wednesday, June 5, and Rhonda Riley, RN, on Friday, June 7. We are so very thankful for the knowledge, experience, insight, and perspectives of these ladies.

Thank you both for contributing to our team of Gentiva Gems. May you continue to shine bright while serving our families during a potentially dark time.

Gentiva Hospice Lufkin is extremely thankful for the incredible gems on our on-call and PRN nursing team. Tina Lucius, RN, Amanda Pierce, RN, and Michelle Butler, LVN, are integral parts of our team, and we could not do what we do without them.

Whether filling in a shift for a nurse's vacation, sick time, training, or other absence, assisting on those weeks where several admissions need to be processed, or assisting with overnight or weekend calls, their gift to us is unmatched!

Thank you, ladies, for handling your other full-time jobs and then serving with Gentiva with big smiles and helpful hearts. Our patients love you all, and so do we!

Today, we extend appreciation to our Nurse Case Managers Kim Warner, RN, Leah Ralston, RN, and Rhonda Riley, RN.

Our case managers are responsible for providing direct care, ordering supplies, interacting with family & facility staff, managing prescriptions, staying on top of continuing education, identifying when additional needs for our patients are present, and having full knowledge and understanding of the hospice process.

We especially want to express our appreciation for the incredible care and compassion our case managers provide our patients and families. These skills are not learned; they are innate and fully present in these ladies.

Thank you so much for your hard work, dedication, and the stamina you exhibit in such a difficult job.

Today we extend appreciation to our busy Nurse Administrators, Erika and Wendy. Erika Posada, RN, is our leading Gentiva Jewel (Executive Director), and Wendy Rice, RN, is an amazing Gentiva Gem (Patient Care Manager).

Both ladies stay busy in the office with all kinds of duties like answering phones, handling back office requests, calling families, doctors, supply companies, nursing facilities, spending many hours in training meetings, handling admissions, running reports, serving in the field when needed, and having an on-call rotation!

Thank you, ladies, for the sacrifices you make. Your hard work does not go unnoticed!
