Although AFib is generally not life-threatening, it can occur alongside other underlying health concerns. Be sure to visit your healthcare provider if you notice persistent irregularities in your heartbeat, especially with other symptoms like shortness of breath and fatigue. While sitting in the sun to achieve that perfect summer glow is tempting, PAM Health is here to remind you that not taking precautions when you’re in the intense summer sun can have some serious side effects, including skin cancer, skin discoloration, and eye damage. Here are some tips to protect yourself while also soaking up that vitamin D:
• Wear sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher. Reapply every few hours, especially if sweating or swimming.
• If you’re opting for spray-on sunscreen over lotion, try spraying it on your hands first, then applying it on your body for optimal effectiveness, according to some experts.
• Drink plenty of water to prevent dehydration
• Seek out shade, especially in the middle of the day when the sun’s UV rays are strongest
