This week wasn’t about judgment. It was about recognition.

Because understanding your triggers isn’t about becoming emotionally perfect.

It’s about finally understanding yourself with more clarity — and less shame.

Healing doesn’t start when reactions disappear.

It starts when you notice them sooner.

The pause.
The tightness.
The urge to shut down, defend, please, or escape.

Awareness creates space.

And space creates choice.

For some people, conflict was never just disagreement.

It meant yelling.
Withdrawal.
Shame.
Unpredictability.

So now even healthy tension can feel emotionally unsafe.

Not because the present is dangerous —
but because the body remembers when it was.

Some people hear feedback.
Others hear rejection.

Not because they’re weak —
but because approval once felt connected to safety, acceptance, or worth.

That’s why certain words can feel heavier than they seem.

Sometimes it’s not about the delayed text.
Or the unanswered call.
Or someone being busy.

Sometimes the reaction comes from older experiences
where feeling unseen carried emotional weight.

And the nervous system remembers.

Some reactions aren’t just about what’s happening.

They’re about nervous system reminders.

That’s why certain situations can feel emotionally overwhelming so quickly.

The reaction may be happening in the present…but the emotional memory is much older.

This week, we talked about survival strategies —
shrinking, performing, controlling, disconnecting.

Not as flaws.
But as intelligent responses to environments
that required adaptation.

Now comes the harder question.

Not what you learned…
but what you're still using.

Do you shrink when conflict starts?
Perform to feel accepted?
Control to feel safe?
Disconnect to avoid pain?

Noticing the pattern is not failure.

It’s awareness.

And awareness is where change begins.

You don’t have to answer here —
but take a moment and answer honestly for yourself.

What survival strategy are you still carrying?

It usually isn’t about the moment.

It’s about memory.

Children don’t develop problems.

They develop solutions to environments that couldn’t meet their needs.

Those solutions often follow them into adulthood.
