Guess what Monday is? It's the Blue Corn Moon!!!
The moon is considered full for three days (Sunday, Monday, Tuesday) peaking on the second day when it's at its fullest. There are many names for each moon and we typically call the August moon the Sturgeon Moon. However, a traditional native name for the August moon is the Corn Moon. It's ALSO a blue moon. A blue moon is the second of two moons in a month or the third of four moons in a season. They happen, on average, every 33 months. Hence the phrase "once in a blue moon". We had one last year, but won't have another until 2027. This moon is ALSO a super moon. Super moons are physically closer to the earth and appear larger in the sky. It won't look blue, though. But anyway, the next three days are the Super Blue Corn Moon!! We usually sing the Full Moon Chant and do moon salutations. But I think we'll be rocking out to Colors of the Wind this time. 💕🌕💕🌕💕
