Dear Runners,
We want to personally share an important update regarding the 2026 UNC Health Southeastern 5K & 10K.
We know that some things didn’t go as planned with race timing last year. We heard your feedback, took it seriously, and committed ourselves to making meaningful improvements moving forward.
After diligently searching and interviewing multiple timing companies, the Robeson Road Runners are confident in announcing Elemental Race Timing as our new official timing company for this year’s races.
Elemental Timing has been timing races since 2009 and handles 20–25 events each year, ranging from 5Ks to ultras. They use bib-mounted RFID chip timing, double-chip every bib for redundancy, and film the finish line with multiple cameras to ensure accuracy.
Before being selected, Elemental Timing reviewed last year’s race and has already made suggestions to improve race flow and communication, including:
Corralling 10K runners in front
Clear, consistent coordination with race organizers
Jimmy, the owner of Elemental Timing, is an experienced race director and a lifelong runner himself. He understands firsthand how important accurate results are to every athlete.
We appreciate your patience, your feedback, and your continued support. Our goal is simple: to provide a smooth, fair, and professional race experience for all participants.
