Yesterday, in Wilson County, Tennessee, a sacred mission turned into heartbreaking grief: a flight from Vanderbilt LifeFlight, carrying three crew members ended in tragedy.

From all of us at the base of AirLife NC, this hits deep in the soul. We understand the weight of the call, the silent hours in the cockpit, the life-or-death urgency, and the bond we share. Today we remember that regardless of the uniform patch, we share one rhythm of duty.

To our fallen colleagues, you answered the call of the sky, you held the line when others needed you, and you have now paid the ultimate price in service. We honor you—not just for the mission, but for the lives you tended, the bonds you built, and the hope you carried into the air. You leave behind a legacy of courage.

To those still fighting, your recovery is our prayer. You are not alone.

To the loved ones grieving, your sorrow is ours. May you feel our support like a steady anchor when the waves of grief crash in.

𝗔𝗶𝗿𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝟮 had the opportunity to participate in the “𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗔 𝗗𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝘆” at Archie Oxendine Park with 𝘽𝙪𝙧𝙣𝙩 𝙎𝙬𝙖𝙢𝙥 𝙁𝙞𝙧𝙚 𝘿𝙚𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 today.

The flight crew got to share what it’s like to be a Flight Paramedic/Nurse and of course got to show off the helicopter!

Big Congratulations to 𝑭𝒍𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝑷𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒎𝒆𝒅𝒊𝒄, 𝑫𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒌 𝑻𝒉𝒐𝒎𝒂𝒏 for hitting an awesome milestone — 1,000 flights in the books!

For 9½ years, Derek’s been the calm in the chaos, the steady hand in the skies, and the guy who somehow still manages to show up with a grin after a long shift (most of the time 😉).

Here’s to 1,000 flights of saving lives, building memories, and a whole lot of “you had to be there” stories.

He is an amazing partner and we feel pretty lucky to have him on our team. We can’t wait to see what’s next! 🙌🏻🦸🏻‍♂️💫🚁

𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟭𝟭, 𝟮𝟬𝟬𝟭 is a day that reminds us of resilience, unity, and courage.
We honor the victims, their families, and the countless heroes—many of them in aviation, EMS, fire, and law enforcement—who answered the call without hesitation.

As an air medical family, we know the weight of that call to serve. Today, we fly with them in our hearts and honor their sacrifice.

We will never forget. 🇺🇸
