The Brazilian fudge - or Palha italiana in Portuguese, is a well known brazilian sweet made with brigadeiro (type of fudge) and crushed cookies.
It was invented in the south of Brazil in the 1950’s as a version of the traditional ‘Italian Chocolate Salami’ made with chocolate, butter, eggs, crushed biscuits and nuts.
The difference from the ‘American’ fudge is, crushed cookies are added, resulting in one of the easiest and most delish fudgy-chewy-crunchy sweet treats.
The original recipe in Brazil has ‘Maizena’ cookies but you can use animal crackers, vanilla wafers, Maria cookies, or any other similar cookie of your choice.
If you have never tried these, you’re missing out!
They’re simply delicious!! 😋
