What do you want on your epitaph?
Morbid question, right?
After learning of the shocking and disturbing murder of a young father and husband, Charlie Kirk, it provided a sobering reminder.
If any of us were gone tomorrow what would be put on our epitaph (tombstone)?
Would it be what we stood for?
Would we be proud of it?
Would we want it to look any different?
Without having met him and there clearly being mixed feelings among people about his positions, one thing seems to be clear about him:
He was a man of deep values and conviction.
A man who had the bravery to express his convictions and beliefs on a public stage knowing full well the exposure it entailed.
I saw a clip of him in an interview saying a such. He wanted to be remembered by his conviction.
How many of us feel disconnected from our true values?
How many of us are hesitant to embrace our true values out of fear of judgement or rejection?
For those of us still in the living world, we have the luxury of choice. We can choose how we live. We can choose how much we nurture our values.
We can choose what will be on our epitaph.
RIP Charlie. I hope and pray that this senseless tragedy becomes a catalyst for many to regain focus on what is truly valuable.
