As of this morning there were 2 confirmed cases of Corona virus (officially COVID 19) in florida. One is in Hillsborough county and the other is in Sarasota.
There is plenty of awareness in the community and panicking simply won’t help. The identified patients have been quarantined. The best thing. We can do for now is to take preventative measures like washing hands with soap and water, covering coughs and sneezing. Also to stay home while feeling sick.

Recently Hep A has been reported in Tampabay area. Hep A is highly contagious liver infection caused by a virus. The most common symptoms include, fatigue, sudden onset of nausea and vomiting, clay colored bowl movement among others. If you have any of those please see you health care provider.

We have vaccine to prevent Hep A which costs around 50 dollars without insurance. If you have insurance we can always bill them. Its a good idea to get vaccinated.

Saving money on prescription meds!
Yesterday someone had a copay of more than $1400 for an important medicine. I was able to get a manufacturer copay card and the out of pocket for the patient went down to just $10.
It's always a great feeling to be able to help patients save money and I have lost count of how much money have I help save for my patients over the years.

Drug recalls.
From time to time drug manufacturers recall medications. Depending on the severity of the matter the recalls can be pharmacy level, meaning any unsold drugs from the pharmacy shelf becomes unsalable or it may be customer level, where any patient who received the drug recently must be contacted by the pharmacy and drug should not be consumed.
