For Women’s History Month, we want to highlight some facts about the fascinating work of Dr. Marion Downs, who is widely recognized as the "mother of pediatric audiology" and a pioneering figure as one of the first women in the field. Although she entered the field somewhat by accident after World War II, Marion Downs overcame the perception that audiology research was unsuitable for women, becoming a legendary figure in the profession.
-She established the first newborn hearing screening programs in 1963, transforming pediatric audiology by promoting early intervention to prevent cognitive and communication issues
-In the 1960s, she pioneered the use of hearing aids for babies as young as 1–2 years old, which was considered radical at the time.
-Her work directly led to the current standard where nearly 97% of newborns in the U.S. are screened for hearing loss before leaving the hospital.

While nearly 29 million adults in the United States could significantly benefit from hearing technology, fewer than 1 in 3 people with hearing loss actually use them. In fact, most people wait an average of seven to ten years after their initial diagnosis before seeking help. Waiting doesn't just make conversation harder; it can lead to cognitive fatigue and social withdrawal. The best time to reclaim the sounds of your life is not years down the road—it is right now. We are here to support you every step of the way with discreet, modern solutions that fit your lifestyle perfectly.

We love these photos of our patient and his happy family after he was fit with his hearing aids, finally able to hear and have a conversation again. His daughter was so emotional and happy that he was able to have eye contact again! We are so grateful for these moments with our patients.
