❤️Birth work is soul work.

Maybe you’re on call. Maybe you’re at a birth. Maybe you’re sitting quietly in the early hours of the morning, waiting for the moment everything changes.

This work asks for patience.
For presence.
For a willingness to witness strength, vulnerability, and love unfolding in real time.

It’s long nights and full hearts.
Quiet support and steady hands.
Holding space for one of the most powerful transitions a family will ever experience.

Birth work is sacred work. And those who answer the call carry a kind of devotion that can’t always be explained, only felt. Birth work is soul work.❤️

I think this is one of the messages I wish I had understood most as a first-time mom going into labor. I thought things were supposed to look and progress a certain way. And while labor often follows certain patterns, no two labors are the same.

So many factors influence how labor progresses: Is this your first baby or have you given birth before? Do you feel afraid, or do you feel safe, loved, and seen? Do you trust the process, or are you in the dark about what your body and baby are doing?

Yes, sometimes stalls or irregularities can signal that something is off — this is where your intuition comes in as well as a good support team. There are tools we can use to support progress, like positioning, rest, hydration, and nutrition. But sometimes, nothing is wrong at all. It’s just that birth is not a linear event.

Knowing this — and preparing for possible detours along the way — can set you up for a better experience in the moment.

Birth isn’t linear, but with the right preparation, you can feel confident no matter what path it takes. Comment your due month below and let’s chat about how to get you ready for all that may unfold.

It’s not difficult to turn a clinical delivery suite into a homely birthing room with just a little imagination. With a few simple changes this space feels like a warm inviting space, a birth sanctuary - perfect to encourage those powerful birth hormones ❤️

・・・
Lights are a great way to make any hospital room a little more cozy. Hygge (Danish for cozy) feelings keep the labor hormones going! It’s also great to bring your own pillows and blankets so that it feels & smells a little more like home. I’ve had clients hang up tapestries over the framed pictures on the wall and bring objects to focus on during contractions too. What is one way you want to make your birthing space yours?
