March Post Ride Report:

Meeting was promptly called to order by Stephen and Ryan (I affectionately refer to them as "the Bedford Boys") at 2:32 p.m. Number of scooters: 17, with the two Lambretta's leading the way, which filled all present with immense joy! Weather was ideal. It was so delightful to hear all the conversations and folks catching up with one another. Next on the agenda was to go on a ride in the gorgeous sunlight. The ride was uneventful with the exception of Bridget's Vespa, which all was needed was a fuel rod adjustment (which she had figured out), a swift kick by yours truly had us back on route. I then noticed Joshua was MIA (all was well, he had to tend to a minor family emergency) but that, combined with Bridget's Vespa temporarily acting up gave me pause, ...so I skipped the scheduled scenic vista stop atop Chandlers Mountain. Ride terminated safely at Trail Head for food, more convo, and adult beverages. Notes of interest: Glenn M. exposed a part of his body showing me his Welsh Dragon tattoo. Jeff B. wore yet another signature Blues music t-shirt. Bill B. has not been implicated in the Epstein Files to date. Peter K. and Michael C. spoke in depth about wood for anyone who cared to listen. Erik B. did not have to push start his Lambretta once that day, I'm happy to report, he's so dreamy. Honorable Mentions go to: Paul Ewing for attending despite great peril to himself, and for Kim & Dave R. for making sure he arrived home safely. Thanks guys. Club President Danielle K. instructed me to organize a group ride for April, so mode it be.

*Mini-Post Ride October Report & November Ride?

A quick October recap: it was a gray overcast day, and 8 scooterists bravely emerged, 2 were Lambretta's, thank goodness. Glenn McGrath initiated the meeting and foreboding weather didn't scare off Alexis who joined us for her first monthly ride! We then proceeded to circumnavigate our fair city and remained dry! Ride terminated at the Raven Lounge who graciously opened early for us. Jimmy Davis and myself completely devoured two charcuterie boards and growled audibly at Kim, Erik, or Paul if they reached for food. Meeting ended without incident or hurt feelings.

November Ride:
I had planned on a Sunday ride for November 30th, but currently the weather gods say there's a 90% or more chance of rain again. 😞
Weather people have been known to be inaccurate, but that is quite a high percentage. I'll report back later in the week. Have a blessed Thanksgiving scooter mates!

Mods & Rockers - Motorcycle and Scooter Rally Update 🚨

We’re getting close—and things are shaping up to be awesome!

Here’s a run-down for the timeline:

Friday night 7pm - ????
Social Gathering/Rally Rally Packages pick up and late registration at DPO Grille .

Enjoy good food and camaraderie, socialize with likeminded and check out all the rides! Big shoutout to DPO Grille, providing Water and Appetizers

Saturday 10 am - 11 am - Breakfast at 3 Roads Lynchburg

Location: 3 Roads Brewery LYNCHBURG: Lynchburg , breakfast burritos or similar & coffee

Saturday 11 am
Starting point for rides at 3 Roads Brewery Lynchburg

🏍️ Scenic Rides ( 2 hours)

A Parkway ride for larger/faster Mods and Rockers (must be able to go 45/mph), route has been designed by and will be lead by Scotty Glenn McGrath, you will be riding on the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway.

Easy but nevertheless just as beautiful, closer-to-town loops for those who want to take it slower ( ideal for 50cc and vintage) , lead by “Sweeper” Dave.

Please make sure you are fully gassed up and ready to go by 11 am - rides will be around 2 hours long!!!!!

Saturday 1pm - "ish" Lunch at 3 Roads Brewery Lynchburg, followed by games and other shenanigans

🎟️ Raffle Prizes Galore beginning at 5pm
Not one, but TWO Vespas (with titles!) will be raffled off this year, along with helmets, gloves, and lots of moto-centric goodies. Your rally registration includes a raffle ticket, but of course you can purchase more on site.

Raffle Prizes Include:

White 2019 Vespa Primavera 150cc (with title) - in good running condition with cosmetic scratches, dents.

Blue 2009 Vespa LX 50cc (with title) - not the scooter we original thought but in good running condition and has just a little over 3000 miles.

Moto gear — helmets, gloves, jackets, T-shirts, etc. Thanks to Jeff and Kristen from Suzuki Honda (and Vespa) of Lynchburg

🚌 RV & Trailer Parking
If you’re coming with an RV, please let us know. We’ve made arrangements for RVs and trailers to park at the brewery lot again. The owner is kindly allowing use of power hookups, but we need a count in advance. We will have porta-potties and a washing station present for throughout the event.

August Post-Ride Report:
Meeting was called to order by Bill Bodine and 2nd by Jimmy Davis at World Famous Stadium Inn. Weather was noted as, sunny & brilliant. Number of scooters present: 13, eventually, with 2 being Lambretta's, it was delightful for all to see the Lambretta numbers increase by 50%! It was off to a slow start with clubmate Erik calling his Spanish machine everything but a child of God. During this laborious process, a Scottish Jacobite rebel from the clan McGrath of the Glenn variety, led a scooter insurrection taking a few misguided clubmates with him! President Danielle Kerschbamer is ruminating on a decision to potentially place Glenn on half rations for the remainder of August. Steadfast clubmate Dave Mann was group ride leader this month and he took us on a skillfully clever route ending at Beer 88. Other notes of interest; we ran into a potential Rocker on a Triumph who shall be known as "Vega". We also had a new & friendly pack of riders from Bedford; Stephen, Ryan, and David! Superb riders all and will be assets to our jovial scooter pack, Welcome! Clubmate Paul Ewing adjourned the meeting, I think, hopefully at an appropriate time. See you next month at the rally!

Mods & Rockers,
We’re just one month from the Mods & Rockers Scooter and Motorcycle rally (September 19–20) — and this weekend is the official deadline to register if you want to guarantee your T-shirt.
Because we know some of you thrive on living dangerously (a.k.a. procrastinating), here’s your friendly warning: register by Sunday night. T-shirts and patches will be ordered Monday morning, and if you snooze past Sunday… well, you might be wearing last year’s shirt instead.

July Post-Ride Report:
Meeting was called to order by club mate Dave Mann, and seconded by Tové Phipps. Number of scooters present, 11, (with one being a Lambretta, which led the Vespa's, it felt completely appropriate). Weather was reported as damn hot. I'm happy to report that there was no break downs, but we did have a creepy van follow us the entire route, complete with the driver possessing "shifty" eyes. Ride terminated at Mi Patron safely. Additional notes: Glenn McGrath consumed a mango margarita the size of a moderate fish bowl, by himself. A cantakerous parrot located in the bar entertained the gang. It traversed all of our shoulders, but I couldn't help but notice that the grumpy parakeet decided to defecate while straddling clubmate Erik Benedict. How peculiar. A new clubmate Rick Coyle joined us for his second ride (he owns a Vespa 150 Primavera) and now is a full fledged member, complete with all the indescribable prestige the Vespa Club of Lynchburg has to offer. Rick is also a historical reenactor, that makes 3 in the club. Clubmate Peter Kerschbamer was trying to figure out the correlation with scooters and reenacting, but I think it took him to dark places. Meeting adjourned without any embarrassing incidents at 5:15 p.m.

May Post-Ride Report!

Meeting was called to order by stalwart club mate Ryan Carey, 2nd by Glenn McGrath who did wear pants. Weather was sublime, you couldn't ask for better. Number of scooters present: 12, with two of them being Lambretta's which made the gathering legitimate. Dave Mann did not ride his newly restored Vespa Rally 200 because he obviously loves my much older sister Debbie Mann. Club mate Netty Carey was observed wearing a complete mauve outfit, not rose, pink, or salmon, but MAUVE I tell you. Ride terminated at the Raven Lounge where club mate Jimmy Davis flashed his VIP Raven Lounge Deluxe status card which garnered us preferred seating and extra hefty charcuterie boards! Club President Danielle Kerschbamer made sure all present had plenty to eat, hospitality oozes out of her pores. New Business: club mate Jeff Bibb informed us that his generous place of business will once again host the Annual Vespa Parade Day event on Sunday, June 22nd, stay tuned for more details! Affable club mate Paul Ewing adjourned the meeting without incident.

March Post Ride Report!
Meeting was called to order by Glenn McGrath and 2nd by Jeff Bibb.
Number of scooters present: 16, with 3 of those being Lambretta's to bring love & joy to all present! Weather: perfection.
Observations: Patrick Hubble led the squad on a short 12 mile ride to reintroduce sunlight to the club after a long winter. We had visting dignitaries from Danville, The Welch's (and their fur baby who always comes on the rides) and two Foulers' club mates from Richmond, Justin and Brendan who made a special delivery to Dave Mann of his long awaited 1974 Rally 200, (see photo). I think I saw man tears. I'm happy to report that there were no break downs and we all arrived safely at Trailhead Pub for adult refreshments and grub. Kim initiated a serious discussion of hosting the Mods & Rockers rally again this year, and probably secured support from Debbie Mann and Jimmy Davis already. Collectively we need to reflect on a few more financial sponsors to make the event happen. I don't think anyone teased or picked on Erik B. at this ride, I'm hoping for more support at next month's group ride. Please bring your A game.
