New Advocates loading!!! ✨

This week our Patient Services Director has been leading training for our amazing new Volunteer Patient Advocates, who will soon be ready to encourage, counsel, and educate women and men facing unplanned pregnancies. 🤍

We are here to help men and women make informed pregnancy decisions and offer support, resources, and a listening ear. 👂 🤝

Our amazing new nurses are officially done with their ultrasound training! 🙌👏

They totaled 64 scans over the last few weeks of training and they loved getting the hands on experience and guidance. Huge thank you to Asia from Soundview Imaging who provided so much help and insight to our nurses! 🫶

At BRPC, we are passionate about providing education and resources to our community. For parents of teenagers, here is how to walk with your teen if they find themselves in an unplanned pregnancy:

2)👂Take this time to listen. Right now you may be shocked, disappointed, and maybe a little embarrassed. How you react in this moment will have a huge impact on your relationship with her. Be grateful she shared it with you instead of hiding it from you.

3)🗣️Respond well. You may be tempted to say, “Whatever you choose, we’ll support you.” But this could make your daughter feel that she has to chart her course alone. Sharing wisdom gained through your life experiences can be a valuable component in your daughter’s decision-making process. Also, remember you are not a failure. There is no doubt that this was not your plan for her. As parents we want more for our kids and what is best for them. The reality is our kids will make mistakes; it is how we respond that matters. You can choose to move forward with positivity and unity!

4)💙Bring her to Blue Ridge Pregnancy Center or your local pregnancy center. This is a great resource that will help guide her through this process and will allow you to see ultrasounds and determine what stage of pregnancy she is in.

5)🫶Be there for your daughter as she processes. Blue Ridge Pregnancy Center will help her go over her options and what each will look like. We will help her find answers to her questions through biblical wisdom.

6) 🤝Help her find her a support group or community that will be uplifting. Get involved in your local church and/or find an Embrace Grace group, a local church support group for single pregnant moms all throughout the country. Get your son involved at a Bible believing/teaching church and encourage him to build relationships with men of integrity who will hold him accountable. Connect him with our Men’s Services at BRPC, where he will have support and encouragement.

That’s why we’re thrilled to introduce our partnership with CarePortal, a care-sharing platform that connects churches directly to the real-time needs of families in our area. Through CarePortal, BRPC can post specific requests—like clothing, food, cribs, repairs, etc., and participating churches can respond based on their ability to help.
