In support of National Animal World Reiki Day February 5th,
Kingdom Animal Shelter is offering a FREE educational event Sunday February 2nd, 1-2pm to share about Animal Reiki and the benefits of Reiki for pets and shelter cats.
World Animal Reiki Day was started by volunteer members of The Shelter Animal Reiki Association (SARA), whose mission is to bring the healing benefits of the Let Animals LeadÂŽ Method of Animal Reiki meditation to rescued animals and their caregivers worldwide.
This is your opportunity to learn more about what Reiki is, its benefits and how it is used with animals, specifically how it is used to support cats at the shelter who may be shy, sacred or grieving to transition to trusting, confident and ready for adoption.
If you have ever been curious about Reiki, interested in working with your own pet at home using Reiki or interested in learning to offer Reiki as a volunteer in a shelter settingâŚthen this opportunity is for you!
Please arrive by 12:45.
Our guest speaker will be speaking from 1-2 about Reiki, its benefits and sharing cases/stories about actual cats who have experienced Reiki at our shelter.
This will be a fun event!
Hope to see you you there.

I have loved animals since I was a little girl. I still remember picking out my first kitten in my grandfatherâs garage, a little orange and white fluff ball that of course I named Fluffy, given that I was a 5 years old. My love of cats blossomed in that moment and I would have a variety of cats in my youth, sitting by me as I read a book and watching me from my open bedroom window. A cat near me has always meant wisdom and peace. Their regal nature requiring you to earn their respect and trust, unspoken agreements of inner thoughts and feelings expressed without words. My early inner mind training and development began with my childhood cats, sensing without speaking and fine tuning the empathic abilities I would later use as I grew older.
My first dog was a red golden retriever named Ben that my father rescued from his work and brought home one night. My younger years where spent sitting under a large pine tree in the back yard with my arms around Ben, sharing my worries, my fears and my secrets. My world was more complicated at that point, and I grew up with Ben being my confidant, my safe place in times of trouble that I could always count on. My first personal therapy dog was Ben and I will always be grateful him for being in my life at that time.
In my 20âs and 30âs I did not own a pet, my life was too busy with work, dating, traveling the world and I didnât want to have a pet and just leave it home alone. To me, the responsible choice was to wait and get a pet when I could be home and settled down, because for me, pets are family. So I spent my time housesitting my friends cats and longing for the day I could have a pet of my own again. Visiting shelters, just saying hi, never taking anyone home. It wasnât time, I wasnât ready.
It wasnât until my 40âs that my life was finally more settled. I got a black cat I named Chi from a farm. After that came Iggie, my white blue eyed princess from the same farm and my life felt complete.
I was working as a physical therapist at a nearby hospital, I had a private practice as a Hypnotherapist and Reiki Practitioner, I had a boyfriend, my two cats, I lived in a beautiful sky rise apartment in downtown Oakland and then I moved to a small cottage nearby in the Dimond district and it all started.....the animal work blew up big time!
Very shortly after moving, a friend notified me there was a mama cat and 4 kittens living in the bushes a few blocks down the road. Well, you know what happened next...two ended up in my home and the rest is history. I became a volunteer with a local cat rescue foundation and over the next year trapped, neutered, adopted, fostered and cared for over 69 cats in area neighborhoods. At one point I counted 13 cats and kittens in my tiny bedroom cottage and I knew I had become the cat lady. I continued to work with the rescue and eventually got the number down to 6 of my own cats. At that point I decided to move from California back to Vermont to be closer to my family, so I took the road trip of a lifetime, 3,000 miles with my Aunt, my mom and 6 cats during the hot month of June. I have to say, the cats were silent the entire time and it was a good trip thanks to the Nutracalm herbal remedy given to me by the amazing holistic vet I left behind and the psychic telepathy I sent them regarding my expectations. I do have to say even though it was a good trip, I probably would not make that choice again.
Since I have returned to Vermont, I have gotten married to my high school sweetheart, we bought a home and currently live with two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, one of which is a therapy dog and the other his crazy sidekick, along with four cats and one 4lb white deaf rabbit who is sweet as pie.
Animals and pets have always been a huge part of my life emotionally and my direct lifeline to my heart center. In times of great sadness or challenge, I have often said âif it wasnât for the animals in my life I wouldnât be hereâ, meaning life on earth was too painful to bear and my pets where the only thing keeping me grounded.
I have to admit, I often would rather spend time with animals than with people. When I am alone in the house with my seven pets, I never feel alone because I can sense and perceive all their voices, personalities and energies as if I am sharing a room with seven human beings, only nicer. Pets to me are a direct link to the heart and all that is good in the world and one of the only things keeping us connected to spirit.
I decided to start Vermont Pet Healing in order to share my love of animals and pets with you and to create a community of love, healing, laughter and sharing around animals and the people who love them. I offer you my heart, my energy training, my empathic abilities and my healing skills in hope that the pets in your life can continue to inspire you and bring you joy. Please visit my services page and website for details regarding pet services and support that I offer and information regarding my educational and training background.
When it comes time for your pets to leave you and wait for you on the other side, I hope you think of me, I want to support making that transition as amazing as possible.... because they deserve it.
