🧠 May is National Stroke Awareness Month

At Nurse Practitioner Associates, National Stroke Awareness Month holds special meaning. One of our own has walked this journey — as a daughter to a father who has survived multiple strokes. His strength and resilience are a daily reminder of why awareness, early detection, and compassionate care matter so deeply.

Stroke is one of the leading causes of death and disability in the U.S., but it’s also largely preventable and treatable — especially when recognized quickly.

🚨 Know the signs of stroke — F.A.S.T.:
• Face drooping
• Arm weakness
• Speech difficulty
• Time to call 911

Stroke doesn’t just impact individuals — it affects entire families. We’ve seen it firsthand. That’s why we’re committed to helping our patients and community understand the risks, recognize the symptoms, and take preventive steps.

How you can lower your risk:

âś… Manage blood pressure
âś… Stay physically active
âś… Eat a balanced diet
âś… Quit smoking
âś… Limit alcohol

If you or a loved one is at risk, we’re here to help. Let this month be a time to educate, support, and honor the journey of all stroke survivors and caregivers.

Let’s act F.A.S.T. — because every second counts.

Child Abuse Prevention Month: Breaking Cycles & Building Resilience

April marks Child Abuse Prevention Month - a time to recognize our collective responsibility to protect children and support survivors.

As someone who has dedicated herself to stopping abuse and promoting healing, Natasha has witnessed how childhood trauma creates ripples that extend far beyond youth. The landmark ACE (Adverse Childhood Experiences) Study revealed what many survivors already knew - childhood trauma doesn’t stay in childhood.

Higher ACE scores correlate with increased risks of heart disease, depression, substance abuse, and even reduced life expectancy. But statistics don’t tell the full story of resilience, healing, and the power of breaking cycles.

My journey as a medical provider for the Child Protection Team taught me so much about childhood trauma, and the effects it has on individuals throughout their lifespan.

This April, let’s commit to creating safe spaces for children, believing survivors, and advocating for trauma-informed approaches in our communities.

Your story matters. Your healing matters. And together, we can build a world where every child thrives free from abuse.

Did you know Vitamin B12 is essential for energy, brain function and healthy red blood cells? Without enough B12, you might feel tired, weak, or foggy-headed. As someone who cares about wellness, I recently discovered Mary Ruths’s and love how it helps me stay energized!

Getting enough B12 can be tricky, especially if you’re vegetarian or vegan since it’s mainly found in animal products. That’s why I’m excited to share this supplement that’s helped me maintain my B12 levels!https://amzn.to/3Epymte We also offer B12 shots in office to give you a quick boost. Call to schedule yours today.

💙 You’re Not Alone: September is Su***de Prevention Awareness Month

If you’re struggling with thoughts of su***de, please know that your life matters. Help is available, and healing is possible.

🗨️ It’s okay to not be okay. Your feelings are valid, but they don’t define your worth or your future.

💔 As Nurse Practitioners, many of us have been personally affected by su***de. We’ve lost patients, colleagues, friends, and loved ones. We understand the pain and the importance of support.

🤝 Reaching out is a sign of strength, not weakness. Here are some ways to get support:

1. Talk to someone you trust - a friend, family member, or mental health professional
2. Call the National Su***de Prevention Lifeline: 988 (24/7, free and confidential)
3. Text HOME to 741741 to connect with a Crisis Counselor
4. 👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️ Reach out to a Nurse Practitioner: We’re here to help, listen without judgment, and provide professional care

🌟 Nurse Practitioners Can Help:
• We offer compassionate, confidential support
• We can assess your mental health and provide treatment options
• We can connect you with additional resources and specialists if needed
• Many of us offer telehealth services for convenient access to care
• We bring both professional expertise and personal understanding to your care

🌅 Remember:
• These thoughts and feelings can pass
• Treatment can help
• You deserve support and compassion

If you’re in immediate danger, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room.

You are important. You are loved. Your life matters. Don’t give up - there is hope, even when you can’t see it right now. As Nurse Practitioners who have seen the impact of su***de firsthand, we are committed to supporting you on your journey to healing.
