This month we armchair traveled to Alaska!
Fun fact about Alaska - it is the largest state in the US covering 663,000 square miles, which is more than DOUBLE the size of Texas!!

We enjoyed kenai cheese dip and pita chips and wildberry cake, two staples in Alaska!

Yesterday was a wonderful day for a cookout and luah party! Residents and staff enjoyed food, music, and each other's company while soaking up some sunshine!

We kept busy indoors during this weeks heat wave!

Lots of crafts and painting, balloon parachute, an armchair trip to New Zealand -- we enjoyed a pavlov cake, a staple in New Zealand! And ended the week with enjoying the fresh air (finally, no humidity!!) and Milkshakes!

Yesterday we had Lifting Spirits mini therapy horses visit, and our special guest of honor was Mr. Buttons! Mr. Buttons was born with dwarfism because both of his parents carried the gene, but his life is a miracle because most horses pass away shortly after birth if they are born with this condition. Mr. Buttons is friendly, so cute, and welcome back anytime! He was loved by all!

We have a new program here at Abbott, called "Armchair Travel" We traveled to China! We watched a video about China and the most beautiful areas and buildings and we enjoyed some food - general gau chicken, crab rangoons and scallion pancakes!

we concluded nursing home week with favorite animal day!! and we had special guests today - curious creatures! we had so much fun making new animal friends!!

Day 4 of nursing home week was Hawaiian Day!
We celebrated with fun tropical decor, dressed in our best hawaiian attire and enjoyed homemade pineapple upside down cake!

Staff was also treated with a homemade french toast breakfast!

Day 3 of nursing home week was sports day! You don't have to ask this team twice to show team spirit! Enjoyed showing off our sports attire, had some fan favorite nachos and watched sports and sports movies!

Day 2 of Nursing Home Week we celebrated Western style!! Our facility was decked out in western decor, We wore our cowboy/girl hats, flannel, and boots, and we enjoyed homemade Cowboy Mud Pie!

Today was the first day of our week long Nursing Home Week Celebration! We kicked off the week 50s style! Our facility was decked out in 50s decor, staff was encouraged to wear 50s clothing and accessories, and we enjoyed 50s music from Tony while having a diner favorite treat - rootbeer floats!
