Today, we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the dream that woke the world up.
But, as we all know—dreams don’t work unless we do. Dr. King gave us the blueprint, but we’re still out here fighting against the same mess: racism, violence, division. The dream? It’s under attack. The fight? It’s far from over.
So what do we do? We get back to basics. We re-engage with our communities. We organize. We plan. We strategize. We take it offline. Because change doesn’t happen in the comments sections.
It happens when we sit face-to-face, roll up our sleeves, and do the work.
Here at Soul City, we have been guiding this mission forward since 2016. We’re doubling (tripling, quadrupling) down on our commitment to community, diversity, and inclusion. We are creating more opportunities for community engagement and organizing in every way we can.
But we can’t do it alone—we need YOU. That means taking the energy of the timeline into real life:
-Host a meeting
-Start a group
-Build the table where change is born
As Dr. King said: “The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.”
BUT, it ain’t gonna bend itself. We’ve gotta grab that thing and PULL.
So here’s the question: How will YOU help pull? Let’s take the dream forward and give it teeth. The world needs us. Let’s show up. Change requires action. It’s time to bite back. ✊🏾
