Closed comedones, commonly known as whiteheads, are a type of acne that occurs when hair follicles become clogged with oil, dead skin cells, and bacteria. Unlike open comedones (blackheads), which have a wider opening and are exposed to air, closed comedones are covered by a thin layer of skin, making them appear as small, flesh-colored or white bumps on the skin’s surface.
Closed comedones can lead to more severe/ inflamed acne if not treated properly.
The key to clear skin is consistency. Not every skin type will react the same to treatment and products, it takes time to figure out what combinations work best for your skin.
