2024 Insurance Industry Updates:

Many carriers are making changes to their policy rules in an effort to maintain low costs and claims integrity and for some companies, they are now requiring a photo upload of any changes requested to your plan.

The new Personal Auto photo upload process is now live for select policies in FL, GA, IN, MD, MN, OR, and WA.
As a reminder, we’ll require photos when customers request certain coverage updates on existing vehicles. Affected physical damage coverages include Collison, Comprehensive, Rental, and Roadside Assistance for existing vehicles on a current Personal Auto policy. The photo requirement will not apply when adding a vehicle to a policy or replacing a vehicle.
When your customer requests an endorsement like adding an affected coverage or lowering their deductible, you’ll receive a notification in the quote flow that your customer will need to upload photos of their vehicle before we bind coverage. We’re offering three total upload options for your convenience, but we recommend that your customers use the mobile app whenever possible.

Great tips for protecting your home's pipes from breaking:

Keep garage doors closed, especially if there are water supply lines in the garage.

Open kitchen and bathroom cabinet doors to allow warmer air to circulate around the plumbing, especially if your sinks are on an exterior wall. (If you have small children, be sure to remove any harmful cleaners and household chemicals.)

Let the cold water drip from a faucet served by exposed pipes. Running water through the pipe—even at a trickle—helps prevent pipes from freezing.

Keep the thermostat set to the same temperature during day and night. Again, during a cold snap is not the time to set back the thermostat at night to save a few bucks on your heating bill.

Have you heard about SB216? If not, we can help you!

On October 11, 2022 The Contractors State License Board (CSLB) sent out this news release notifying contractors of SB216. Senate Bill 216 requires concrete contractors holding a C-8 license, HVAC contractors holding a C-20 license, asbestos abatement contractors holding a C-22 license, or tree service contractors holding a D-49 license to also obtain and maintain workers’ compensation insurance even if that contractor has no employees. SB216 goes into effect on 1/1/2023 so now is the time to submit!

You can send your applications to us at wwfi.workcomp@amwins.com. All we need is an ACORD 130 and our RIC Work Comp Supplemental found here. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to give us a call at 888-693-7892 option 4.

Outside molds carry out nature’s work by disassembling decaying organic materials: dead plants, fallen trees and dead animals.

Inside, mold growth can cause an array of health concerns.

There is always a little mold everywhere – in the air and on many surfaces. Certain molds are toxigenic, meaning they can produce toxins (specifically ā€œmycotoxinsā€). When in the form of mold particles, a wide variety of organic materials can cause health problems.

Mold can become a hazard in a wide variety of environments from basements to damp walls and equipment to cool walking surfaces.

Short term exposure to molds can cause:
• Runny nose (93% of chronic sinus infections = mold)
• Weeping eyes
• Wheezing, sneezing, coughing, and shortness of breath
• Itchy eyes or itchy skin with rash
Some people, such as those with allergies to molds or with asthma, may have more intense reactions. Severe reactions may occur among workers exposed to large amounts of mold in occupational settings. There is consistent evidence to link indoor exposure to mold with upper respiratory tract symptoms, cough, and wheeze in otherwise healthy people. Mold exposure to people in at-risk groups include people with immune suppression or underlying lung disease, asthma symptoms in people with asthma; and with hypersensitivity pneumonitis in individuals susceptible to that immune-mediated condition.

The length of time it takes for mold to cause symptoms varies greatly. The side effects can be immediate, delayed, or nonexistent.

How to Prevent Mold Hazards

Mold growing in buildings indicates that there is a problem with water or moisture. Inspect buildings for evidence of water damage and visible mold as part of routine building maintenance. Correct conditions causing mold growth by:
• Promptly fixing leaky roofs, windows, and pipes
• Thoroughly cleaning and drying after flooding
• Ventilating laundry, and cooking areas
• Controlling humidity levels
• Routine and prompt cleaning of equipment and tools
• Remove moldy items. Once mold starts to grow in carpet, insulation, ceiling tiles, drywall, or wallboard, the only way to deal with the problem is by removal and replacement.
• Remove moldy items such as food, wet rags and sponges, etc. – most any item can be a source of molds.
• Scrub cleanable surfaces (such as wood, tile, stone) with soapy water and a bristle brush.
• Thoroughly clean hard surfaces (such as flooring, molding, wood and metal furniture, countertops, and sinks).
• Dry surfaces quickly and thoroughly after cleaning. Use a fan, air conditioner or dehumidifier to help the surfaces dry after cleaning is finished.

Below freezing temperatures are forecast for the Greater Puget Sound area into this weekend and rhe best way to prevent frozen pipes in your home is to take the following actions:

Turn up the heat to at least 58-degrees, especially if you are leaving home.
Keep a small trickle of water flowing from a few faucets.
Open cabinet doors so warmer air can reach the pipes under sinks, especially if they are located in external walls.
Set up fans to blow heat into cold rooms.
If you have exposed pipes inside closets or pantries, leave doors open.
Disconnect garden hoses from outdoor faucets.
Keep the garage door closed.
