14 years of continued sobriety
3.25.12
I’ll always be grateful for the ones that got me here and supported me so strongly when it was still hard to make it through the day.
I’m grateful to God for sustaining me when life’s gotten sad and lonely and exhausting. I’m thankful for my predecessors like Don M. And Mr. Dan and Mr. Nole…for my first sponsor, Deborah, who knew I wasn’t ready and loved my anyway. I’m grateful to Glen for recognizing my desperation and need for intervention - when I had no eyes to see it and no desire to change. I’m thankful for my parents and my brother and sister-in-law that have encouraged me through the years…to my sponsors -past and present - for showing me how to do it. I’m so very grateful to my soonsees because you keep me clean and I’m thankful for Jimmy who exemplifies what it means to give it away (you can’t keep what you have without giving it away). To the 12 step programs that God saw fit to lead me to - what a blessing you’ve been to me.
If you’re desperate, that’s Gods gift. If you’re sick and tired of being sic and tired, that’s a gift too. If Gods given you a desire to change, you better take home and run with it because willingness is a gift from above; if we don’t take advantage of it, it may never cycle around to us again. TOdAY is the day. Cease this day. Don’t wait to get your life right tomorrow.
Thank you, Lord, for a new way to live and for loving me enough to not leave me the way I was.
