We’re helping spread the word that Rice Community Health is hiring a Lead Plant Operations Team Member.

This role helps care for the hospital as well as Lyons Family Care and Sterling Family Care, making sure these spaces stay safe, functional, and ready to serve patients each day. It’s a hands-on position with a big impact behind the scenes.

Lyons Family Care and Sterling Family Care are participants in the Early Detection Works program through KDHE. If you are uninsured, underinsured or simply have a high deductible, contact us and we can help you receive your cervical cancer screen with our providers free of charge!

January is Cervical Health Awareness Month, and we wanted to share a reminder from Dr. Logan Shetlar with Lyons Family Care.

Cervical cancer is one of the more preventable cancers because we can often catch changes early, before they become cancer. The hard part is that early changes usually don’t cause symptoms, which is why screening matters.

If it’s been a while, that’s okay. You don’t need a lecture. You just need a plan, and we’re happy to help.

Limit time outdoors, cover exposed skin, and watch for signs of frostbite or hypothermia, especially in children, older adults, and anyone working outside.

If symptoms become severe or you’re concerned about your health, Rice Community Hospital is open 24/7 and here for you. In an emergency, call 911.

Today is Rural Health Day, and it means a lot to us here Lyons Family Care.

In a rural community, primary care is often the front door to everything. It is the place you bring your kids when something feels off, the place you call when you are not sure what to do next, and the place where familiar faces help you stay on track with your health.

Rural health is personal. We are grateful to care for this community and proud to be part of what makes Rice County strong!

It is , and we want to recognize the two APRNs who care for families at Lyons Family Care.

Many of you know Allison Edwards from her years in the Rice Community Hospital ER. She recently transitioned into family medicine at LFC, and patients have loved having her familiar presence in the clinic. Karen Root has been caring for families here for years and is someone patients trust to help them stay on top of their health and understand what comes next.

Together, Allison and Karen see patients for routine visits, sick visits, and long-term health needs. They review labs, manage ongoing conditions, and help make sure families can get care close to home without long waits.

Allison and Karen, thank you for the care and calm you bring to every visit. Lyons is lucky to have you both!
