History has been made.​
Mattel has released its first Barbie with autism, expanding representation in the toy aisle and beyond.​
This release builds on past efforts, including the Barbie with Down syndrome, showing how meaningful it can be when children see real differences reflected in the world (and toys) around them.​
While it's a starting point, moments like this move representation forward.​
At GiGi’s Playhouse, we celebrate representation of ALL abilities and support continued progress toward inclusion and acceptance.

The Rockford Playhouse had a terrific visit yesterday from our Regional Director at the National Playhouse, Brittany Wright! Brittany joined GiGi’s Playhouse, Inc. in October and has been busy making her rounds, getting to know how each Playhouse in her region operates. When my son, Eugene, was seven months old, I noticed something didn’t feel quite right. He wasn’t able to sit up on his own, and as a new parent, my instincts told me it was time to ask questions. I took him to the doctor, and we were soon referred to a specialist. That referral changed my life.
