We honored a hero yesterday. Several of our team members accompanied two of our Veterans to attend the funeral of Oscar Sprague in Milbridge. Oscar was killed in action during the Korean War, found just this year, and finally brought home to be laid to rest with his parents.

One of our core values is:
Veterans are Unique – We must recognize the special sacrifice that our Veterans and family members have made in service to our nation and that they are most deserving of our best efforts to meet their needs.

Attending this service, and sharing the experience alongside two of our Veterans, was more meaningful than words can describe. 💙

Labor Day is meant for recognizing the contributions of our workforce. We are so fortunate to have a spectacular team here at MVH Machias. As part of our 20th Anniversary Celebration, several of our team members were recognized for milestone years of service — including three remarkable employees who have been here since the very beginning, 20 years ago:

We were honored to have MVH CEO Brad Klawitter join us for the ceremony and help present recognition certificates to these dedicated team members.

We marked a very special milestone with an incredible 20th Anniversary Celebration filled with food, music, and fellowship. Residents, families, staff, and friends gathered together to honor two decades of caring for those who served.

🎶 Live music by The Steele Hill Band was fun and festive.
🍽️ Dinner was a true feast — ribs, potato salad, coleslaw, corn on the cob, baked beans, and more!

We were honored to be joined by MVH CEO Brad Klawitter, Senator Marianne Moore , Representative Will Tuell, Representative Tiffany Strout, and Lynette Ramsey of the Maine Bureau of Veterans' Services – Machias office, along with many friends of the Home.

Most importantly, the day was about celebrating our Veterans, their families, and the strong community that makes MVH Machias a Home. 💜💙

We’re still on cloud nine after yesterday’s exciting SHAPE award presentation with the Maine Department of Labor. It was a team effort and the result of hard work over many months which earned us this recognition for our commitment to workplace safety and health. Way to go, team! 🏆

🏆 We’re proud to share that we received the SHAPE Award from the Maine Department of Labor!

This award recognizes public employers who go above and beyond to maintain a safe and healthy workplace.

Thank you to Commissioner Laura Fortman, Bureau of Labor Standards Director Kate Burkhart, Workplace Safety and Health Division Director Steve Greeley, and Program Manager Mary Matthews for joining us in Machias to present this award and tour our Home. 🍀🌍 We kicked off our St. Patrick’s Day celebration with a virtual tour of Ireland, complete with pretzels and Irish pub cheese — giving everyone a taste of the Emerald Isle!

In the afternoon, the festivities continued with a party featuring Shamrock shakes, sweet cookies, and beautiful live Irish music performed by our very own Chris, cook in our dietary department, and his talented wife, Lauren. 🌍🍀
