📚💙 We were so grateful to welcome the Porter Memorial Library youth reading group for a wonderful visit! The children got to practice reading aloud and residents got the joy of their company. A great multigenerational event enjoyed by all.

We’re already looking forward to their return next month! Thank you to everyone who helped make this visit possible. 🤗

🐾 On Friday, March 13th, we had the honor of celebrating K9 Veterans Day with some very special guests! 💙

K9 Kia, K9 Tango, and the newest recruit—12-week-old K9 Aspen—paid a visit alongside their handlers, James Malloy and Matt Carter. Residents became fast friends with these incredible working dogs. 🐕✨

Thank you to James, Matt, and their K9 partners for your service and for spending time with us!

🍀 We’re proud to celebrate National Social Work Month and World Social Work Day on March 17 by recognizing the incredible social workers who support our residents, families, and care teams.

Our social workers play a vital role in advocating for Veterans, supporting families through important transitions, and helping ensure each resident’s voice, dignity, and personal story remain at the center of their care.

Today we’re highlighting Lacey Kalloch, LSW, who truly lives the MVH mission every day. Lacey consistently goes above and beyond to meet the needs of our residents and their families, bringing compassion, advocacy, and dedication to her work.

In November 2025, Lacey was recognized by the Maine Health Care Association with the Excellence in Long-Term Care Award—a well-deserved honor that reflects the difference she makes in the lives of those she serves.

Lacey is pictured here with Veteran John, sharing a moment that captures the heart of her work.

This year’s theme for Social Work Month is “Uplift. Defend. Transform.” — three powerful words that reflect the compassion and advocacy social workers bring to their work every day.

And since World Social Work Day falls on St. Patrick’s Day this year, we’re so excited to celebrate we might just break out an Irish jig! ☘️💃

Thank you, Lacey, for the difference you make in the lives of the Veterans we serve.

🌟 We're celebrating Healthcare HR Week (March 16–20)! It's a time to recognize the human resources professionals who support the people behind the care. From recruiting and onboarding to supporting employees and strengthening our teams, HR plays a vital role in helping our Homes provide the best possible care for our residents.

Today we’re celebrating Tammy Pulk, HR and Business Office Manager, who has been serving our residents, families, and team members since our Home first opened in 2005. Tammy’s dedication and institutional knowledge have been an important part of our community for over two decades.

Pictured here with our CEO, Brad Klawitter, Tammy received a Years of Service Award during our 20-year anniversary celebration last year—an honor that reflects her long-standing commitment to the people we serve and the teams she supports.

Thank you, Tammy, for the many years you’ve devoted to our Veterans, their families, and staff, and for the important role you play in helping us provide these important services to Washington county and beyond. 💜💙

🎉 Happy Long Term Care Administrator's Week!

Today we’re proud to recognize our Administrator, Arlena Studer.

Arlena first joined us in November 2020, as Residential Care Director, quickly becoming a trusted and compassionate leader for both residents and staff. Her dedication and commitment to quality care led her to step into the role of Administrator in January 2023.

Arlena’s leadership is rooted in kindness, humility, and collaboration. In fact, anyone who knows Arlena knows she would be the first to say the credit belongs to the team—that’s simply the kind of leader she is.

Long-term care administrators carry a wide range of responsibilities, often working behind the scenes to ensure everything runs smoothly for residents, families, and staff. From navigating regulations and operational challenges to supporting employees and shaping culture, their leadership plays a critical role in enabling the best possible care outcomes.

These photos capture just a few special moments—from celebrating achievements to spending time with the residents who make our Home so special.

Arlena, thank you for your steady leadership! 💜💙
