Today we’re throwing it back to when Maine Veterans’ Homes – Machias had the honor of being the final destination of the Washington State Department of Veterans Affairs virtual walk across the country.

We were proud to create this video to help welcome them as they reached the finish line—and even prouder to represent our great state of Maine along the way. 💙 From coast to coast, this journey was a powerful reminder of the unity, respect, and gratitude shared among those who serve Veterans everywhere.

🍓🥄 Building our own afternoon snacks with help from a couple of our amazing kitchen crew!

Residents had a great time creating their own fruit parfaits, choosing their favorite layers and toppings while enjoying a hands-on activity. It was a fun, tasty, and interactive way to spend the afternoon—and the results were just as delicious as they look! 😋

🦞 It's no secret, our residents LOVE Lobster!

We are so grateful to welcome Beckham Durkee back again this year for another generous lobster donation. Beckham was joined by his mom and dad, Rylea and Ben Durkee of Jonesport, owners of Bring It Inc., making this a true family act of kindness.

Thank you, Durkee Family, for thinking of our Veterans and helping make their meals extra special. 💕

🎄 A huge shout-out and thank you to Moody’s Seafood in Jonesport for their generosity!

Moody’s donated fresh lobsters for our residents’ Christmas dinner of prime rib and lobster, and also provided clams for our New Year’s Eve celebration featuring homemade clam chowder.

Your kindness and community spirit made a difference and brought so much joy to our residents. We are grateful for your support and partnership! 💙

🌟 Congratulations to Lacey Kalloch! 🌟

We are incredibly proud to celebrate Lacey Kalloch, Social Worker, on receiving the Excellence in Long Term Care Award from the Maine Health Care Association (MHCA). This prestigious award is part of MHCA’s annual recognition program (2025), and only 20 health care professionals across the entire state of Maine were selected to receive this honor. What an incredible achievement!

This recognition is a true reflection of the compassion, dedication, and heart Lacey brings to her work every single day. From supporting residents through difficult transitions, to empowering families with guidance and reassurance, to finding thoughtful ways to make each person feel valued and understood, Lacey leads with empathy and purpose.

Her coworkers are inspired by her positivity, teamwork, and unwavering willingness to go the extra mile. She exemplifies what it means to provide exceptional, person-centered care and truly lives our mission of Caring for Those Who Served.

We are so grateful to have Lacey as part of the MVH family and so proud to see her recognized at the state level for the extraordinary work she does. Please join us in congratulating Lacey on this well-deserved honor! 👏
