Another day of inadequate staffing for the Macomb Township Fire Department. Our full-time firefighters are very well trained, experienced, and ready to serve. But with current staffing levels, they can only do so much. Neighboring communities invest more in fire protection and better service, shouldn’t we do the same?

The schedule reflects full-time firefighters working overtime just to maintain minimum staffing coverage. But the question remains: where are the part-time firefighters?

Inconsistent staffing. Unpredictable coverage.

We’re Operating Below Safe Standards – This is Dangerous!

NFPA 1710 requires a minimum of 15 firefighters for a house fire, or 17 when a ladder truck is in use. Our ladder truck is first due to all fires. Our current staffing falls far short of this standard.

This means slower response times, increased danger to our residents, and higher risks for firefighters who respond with too few crew members to safely do the job.

Your voice matters—contact your township officials TODAY and demand proper staffing before a tragedy happens.

Recently, we’ve been receiving questions about what we’ve been posting and what needs to be done.

Our message is clear: Macomb Township is grossly understaffed.
With only 8–10 full-time firefighters per day for a community of 100,000 residents running 20–22 calls daily, the current situation is unsafe and dangerous.

We are asking for more FULL-TIME firefighters to bring our department staffing up to NFPA standards — a minimum of 15 firefighters per shift.
