Breaking ground in life-saving technology at Fairview Park Hospital!🫀
Fairview closed out heart month in a BIG way - placing its first ever leadless pacemaker, resulting in a life saved and a breakthrough use of technology in Fairview’s OR!
Dr. Jonathan Brock, one of Fairview Park Hospital’s newest credentialed Elctrophysiologists and the newest partner of Dr. Oddis, Dr. Hoffman, and Dr. Horne, performed his first procedure at Fairview and in Dublin-Laurens County in a big way last week - he literally walked through the doors, ran straight to the OR, and utilized the leadless pacemaker for the first time ever in our facility. All to make positive life change for a patient in immediate need.
What is a leadless pacemaker and what advantages does it have over traditional pacemakers?
🫀It is a pacemaker that has no wires, unlike traditional pacemakers
🫀Reduces chance of infection by 50%
🫀It is typically placed via catheter through the groin or another vein making it minimally invasive
🫀Requires no chest incision
🫀Is a great option for patients with limited venous access, prior infection history, current infection, or those on dialysis
🫀Can be a life-saving option for complex patients with complete blockages
